Hi guys, I'm currently working on 2.5D sidescroller type thing in Unreal 4. I'm actually a game artist but I have dabbled in animation now and then. The main character I am working on is two dimensional. Some separate elements are separated off into layers in photoshop. Basically am looking to animate the main character in…
Hello ! I've sculpted a small object in zbrush yesterday and saved it as an obj instead of a ztool (I was planning on using it as a simple detail ztool on a base 2.5D tileable texture). Now when I opened the obj again in zbrush; I didn't see any of my color information. I tried creating a texture form polypaint, hit the…
We're a VC-backed virtual reality start-up based in Santa Monica, on the westside of Los Angeles. We're looking for a 3D design generalist with a strong modeling, texturing, and environment design skillset to help us build out our initial VR product. This is a full-time contractor role that has the potential to become a…
So I've begun working on a character for a friend based upon loose concepts he has given me and I've begun sculpting out the main idea. The character is going to be used in 2.5d side scroller and I was hopping on critiques, advice, or techniques to make the character look more unique and eye catching . The idea is a young…
Hello, I'm researching one or more artists able to create 2.5D fantasy sprites with animations, to be integrated in Unity. Experience with Unity would thus be appreciated. Exemples of assets would be those found in Age of Empires 2 HD or similar. Assets would have to be scalable for mobile and PC target environments.…
If I had to put money on it, then I'd say the problem you're running into is due to your UVs. If you have any that are touching the border coordinates, then zbrush will spit out a blank displacement map which would render every other step useless. That should be the only roadblock to getting a normal displacement map, and…
Hi all, I am working on this personnal game project , using unity3D, and I was thinking that will be a good idea to show the wip of the first level game assets. Currently character are mostly done in hires, then I will bake all of that onto the Lpm as well once I make them. Zbrsuh for sculpt and 3dcoat for the painting…
Hey Pennywise, nice start so far, I think you might be making more work for yourself than you need to with such a symmetrical design. You could take just a quarter of that texture and tile it. There are multiple ways of making textures using Zbrush, hopefully at least one of these links will help you out: This series of…
Spent most of the morning learning my way around crafting seamless tiling scale textures with Zbrush. Joseph Drust's NanoTile Textures plugin did most of the complicated work, which I am very grateful for. Also tried manually placing Ztools and digging into Zbrush's 2.5D past, but the NanoTiles method produced much better…
I love the UI as well. It shouldn't take long for the basics to kick in, and once it does, the program actually begins to feel pretty easy to use (sculpting skill being a different issue). I think the main thing is just learning the difference between it's 2.5D side and the 3d side. Hold Ctrl over every button. Instant…
