Hey, I'm really enjoying substance painter right now. However I'm confused as to how I can export Specular maps for UE4. IN SP the only shader option I have is Metal-Rough, from my UE4 understanding metalness is not what I want as I've been painting specular maps. In the export options there IS a gloss-specular option…
I haven't made the geo yet, I'm still in the planning stage! If you have any suggestions for good geo I'd love to hear them. This is for an FPS map, roughly similar size to a typical COD map. I'm planning on making a modular building kit for it (it'll mostly be similar styled warehouse-like buildings, nothing too…
2: The specifics of the your renderer make a difference but if you're using a double sided material it's not going to backface-cull any geometry which means you're processing more than you can see and that's bad. for thin stuff - glass panes, cloth etc. its a good idea. otherwise, stick to a single sided material
While trying to decide which character to do a test drive on, I found myself wanting an at-a-glance comparison for the limitations on different heroes, and short of multiple tabs, didn't really find a solution. So, I made one.…
currently you can get work doing low poly, no normal map art. I don't know if that will always be the case. Now is probably the best time to learn, it seems like artists are making a bigger deal about having synced tangents between the baker and engine so we can hopefully do away with the current broken workflow of…
Scratches in metal would just lead to more metal, so both albedo/diffuse and spec would remain the same. The only reason to add anything on top would be if there was another material present on top of the metal, like dirt for example. Where scratches would be defined would be in gloss/roughness, normal or both. I use…
Hey all, I'm experiencing crashes in Blender 4.2.0 whenever I use Cycles for rendering. The crashes start as soon as my model becomes more complex with higher geometry. Blender closes without any error messages, which is really frustrating. My PC is generally very stable while gaming, but it crashes consistently during 3D…
What is the base of the anthro-species. Form follows function, find the base, look at it's environment, find out its natural ability. Figure out the body design and match the species to your concept, then think about clothing to match the species. A desert rodent might look more towards 4 with the wrapping around the neck…
I think Farnsworth has a custom species which won't work over the net. Since the species is the only way to plug code into your model I think you can forget about netgame compatibility. If a species file the server lacks is referenced anywhere in any UPL you have on your system the server will throw you out.
throwing down a small doodle to post something. retro '70s robot. 15m. AzPainter. still here, yo. still doing low spec modeling. mostly on discord. edit: did NOT notice the last post date
