Blender 4.2.0 Crashes During Cycles Rendering – Seeking Advice

Hey all,

I'm experiencing crashes in Blender 4.2.0 whenever I use Cycles for rendering. The crashes start as soon as my model becomes more complex with higher geometry. Blender closes without any error messages, which is really frustrating. My PC is generally very stable while gaming, but it crashes consistently during 3D projects, so I have to Ctrl + S constantly to avoid losing progress.

I've learned that Intel recently released a new BIOS update that might address this issue, but I haven't tried it yet. I'd prefer to explore other solutions before updating the BIOS. I've monitored my temps, and they seem normal, never exceeding 85°C.

Today, I also experienced a crash in Substance Painter for the first time, which adds to my concerns. I'm torn between trying the BIOS update, possibly RMA-ing the CPU, or sticking with it since the PC is stable in all other tasks, except for 3D modeling and texturing, which seem to be too much for my system.

My PC Specs:

  • Intel Core i9-14900k + 360mm liquid cooler
  • Nvidia RTX 4090 FE
  • 32GB DDR5 6000MHz (running at 4800MHz out of the box)
  • Asus Tuf 1000W PSU

Any ideas on what else I could try?
