i wouldnt use a sculpting app here... maybe for some parts... but its faster to model the lowres and the highres in maya... and for all detail maps like bricks and plaster use ndo... for such lowres assets your photoshop skills are more important than sculpting...
The props are looking terrific, but there's far too much green lighting in your scene. I think the scale of your brick texture may be a little off as well. I really like the overall shape and design of the station as well as the camera angle. Keep those! :)
I really like what you have going here, especially the roof tops and how you adding geometry to the edges. I think you should do that to the brick areas by adding a cube here and there. Anyway looks great, very nice textures.
I've still got to make a few separate props ie. a ladder so you can climb to the 1st floor. Brick rubble based floor for the whole model to sit on. Also more roof damage (planks of wood trailing off around the back).
Or let's say we have this photographic texture here: http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=8431&PHPSESSID=a5dij4aulchfnrt7tpi6vc72l5 Is there any conceivable way to equalize the lighting, by e.g. getting rid of the deep dark shadows in between the bricks? Or should this texture go into the trash bin?
Block it out first, yours is very simplistic in comparison to the scene you are copying. Don't forget to keep a keen eye for attention to detail, for example the bricks that badly tile on the edge of the walls or the ceiling struts are far fewer than your reference. Keep working on it.
Looks good so far! It may be nothing but I was thinking about the overall size of your bricks for the walls. They must be bigger then a person is tall and quite wide. Perhaps my sense of scale is thrown off since there isn't much reference other then the throne.
Title: Cogs & Bricks 80k Tris Printing Time: 9-11 Hours You can get the model (3D Printer ready, or a untouched version) from my Google Drive, use it at your leisure. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0...UxHSE5EcTFOdVE
Really cool! Don't suppose you could share some resources on how you're getting those lovely sharp creases and seams in ZB? I can do hard edged stuff (Rocks, brick, wood etc) but fabric is still a mystery to me!
Are your bricks in anyway chamfered? Because if they aren't, there will be nothing to put on the normal map. Also check if the renderer is using the projection modifier specified by you or using an auto created one. Also check if the UV mapping is correct, and ifs set to the correct UV on the baker.
