adding polypaint + pairing it with a bit depth for the wrinkles, so it works well with normal map I will do the best I can in polypaint, but want to do the real cleanup and details after it's projected on the low poly mesh.
i'm not sure i totally understand your problem. have you been polypainting in the new layer? if you don't want the paint in that layer you can erase it using alt while painting with rgb turned on. is part of your mesh hidden? i've had issues with polypaint and layers if i hide part of my mesh. something else you might look…
Here's the latest progress on the sculpt and polypaint, this time as the sculpt alone, the polypaint on flat colour and the two combined. I painted the recesses using cavity masking and started adding a mottling of colour variation into the main base colour, as the white and greys looked too plain. For example, I added…
One of my favorite ways to do stitches is to have RGB turned on in Zbrush and then polypaint at the same time I'm sculpting. I then bake out the polypaint in xNormal and use it as the basis for masking in Photoshop. Actually, I use baked polypainting for a ton of different things, including creating base textures and masks…
Two things come to mind: 1 - Use "ZPlugins: Decimation Master: Use and Keep Polypaint" to preserve polypaint. 2- Your highpoly sculpt does not need UVs if you're going to bake with xNormal. Xnormal is capable of using the polypaint data from the sculpt, so only your final lowpoly mesh will require UVs.…
hello, I got an issue with polypaint. Did some search yesterday on both ZBCentral and Polycount but didn't find any clues what I am doing wrong. Here's what's wrong: on the left: polypainted material with standard white matcap on on the right: I want to switch to stadard material to add some lights and grab some view of…
First time I've ever polypainted and I really like the workflow. I think I'm going to try and better my skills at hand painting characters from now on. Please crit. This took a week from beginning to end. Everything is done inside zBrush. Thanks, Tony.
SirCatalot, you are officially a legend and my new polycount badass! I tried out the polypaint, what a great thing :) I ended up replacing the tiling textures, this time after I'd done the polypaint and I got this:
