quick tech question, how do I do the displacement map / matcap baking described in this video http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/zbrush/baking/ in zb3 r3, I was following the tutorial but zb wasnt doing the same things for me as it was the tutorial maker because of the different versions, was the workflow for doing this reduced… -
Strange Normal maps baking problems
Alright, having a bit of a brainfart here. Trying to bake certain pieces here on my home computer. But NOTHING is working. Tried xForm, playing with the smoothing groups, Scanline/Mental Ray, and I always get the same result. What am I doing wrong? :shifty: It's really simple pieces, and I can't even get these baked. -

Post pictures of your baking setup. Two things I think are happening here: 1) you are missing a projection modifier or it isn't set to use your projection modifier in the baking tab 2) you are baking in world or local space instead of tangent space (assuming you wan a tangent space map) -

As far as I know the Hit Matching Mat ID (?) only works if the Mat ID of one 'Element' matches the same Mat ID of the same 'Element' in the high poly. Have you access to 8.0 ebagg? So you want the normal info baked into a diffuse texture right? I just got maya to spit this out using transfer maps (choose 'shaded' for the output map). Note that you need to make it a .tiff. Other formats dont seem to work. I haven't got access to older versions of maya so I can't try it… -

we're baking from a rigged skeleton to fk keys in maya, but the curves are doing some crazy stuff- sections are jumping 90 or 180 degrees then continuing as normal, resulting in really fragmented curves. with a key every frame it looks ok because the bones rotation all counteract eathother, but when the curves are… -

You can overlay/stack UVs as much as you want. Just make sure that when you have them in a game engine that you make a separate UV set for the lightmap and that is setup correctly.
