JohnnySix: I've seen people save poly's by replacing modeled wheels with quads and an alpha to make it a circle. Replacing all 4 wheels will give you the poly's you need for the misc doodads on the car.
I'll simplify my previous post. Generalist have an easier time finding entry level work and are easily replaced. Specialist are borne from senior positions over time and generally are hard to replace.
Thank you for your reply! I actually thought about doing this using ZWrap. I would have a default, rigged, optimized 3D model and then I would have a model with desired face shape and using ZWrap I would transform the default model face shape into the desired face shape. But from my understanding, I thought that the…
Hey Guys, Just tryin to get some input on something. Currently I'm trying to beef up my portfolio, and cater it a bit to the companies / games that I'd really enjoy working on. On that note, I was wondering something. Is it a good idea or a bad idea to build an environment based off of a released concept of a franchised…
Hi guys, I was making a script that´d delete components replicating Max's behaviour, like when you hit delete on a vertex\edge, it´ll convert that selection to face mode and then delete it. cmds.select(cmds.polyListComponentConversion(tf = True)) faces = cmds.filterExpand(sm=34) if cmds.filterExpand(sm=34):…
I have the following issue - I get much better quality antialiasing when baking in Maya (gaussian filtering, filter size 3, 8x8 samples). I can't replicate the results inside Max (global supersampling hammersley, quality 1.0) and I assume it's due to the filter settings, it seems when rendering to texture 3dsmax disregards…
i just started work on a weapon, one the texturing side of things i dont really know how to go about it, whilst looking at gun reference there is some guns like the Ak 47 and M4 which are metal and have that nice roughness to it and then there is weapons like the scar which look like plastic, for this weapon im trying to…
I have a vague feeling that I've seen a topic on this before on here somewhere, but seeing as the search engine seems to be busted, I'm just going to have to post it again. Can anyone explain how I'd go about rotating the pivot point of an object in Maya? I've got it woprking once fiddling around with a bunch of componant…
A fun and challenging project, the AKM was modeled (to a certain point) following the "Ultimate Weapon Tutorial" by Tim Bergholz. Seeing the weapons from Metro Exodus inspired me to take it one step further. I tried my best to replicate the real AK and it's functionality. All in all, it was a great learning experience. I…
Hello guys! I really wanted to get my hands on development of stylized environments, so I ended up trying to replicate one of the scenes from "Cowboy Bebop" in Unreal Engine 4. Here are the results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRoazDN0JAc About 2-3 months in a nutshell *includes free time: Software used: 3ds max,…
