Max vs Maya antialiasing and filtering

I have the following issue - I get much better quality antialiasing when baking in Maya (gaussian filtering, filter size 3, 8x8 samples). I can't replicate the results inside Max (global supersampling hammersley, quality 1.0) and I assume it's due to the filter settings, it seems when rendering to texture 3dsmax disregards any settings. Filter types seem to work only when doing a camera render, and there I can notice the difference between Blend or Catmull or anything else, and I think that's the setting I need to get the same quality inside of 3dsmax.

Is there a setting I'm missing? Here's the comparison:

Managed to make a test with Vray, and this time any filtering is applied when using render to texture. Below, left to rig8ht: max scanline, maya, and vray with Soften filter, same resolution ( 128x128 )

I guess this is a workaround, but I'd sure want to get the same quality with the default scanline :(
