As far as I know they scanned the ME1 hero characters - Shepard, Kaidan, Liara etc. Then for ME2 and 3 I'm not sure if Kolby Jukes has used scans for Miranda or the TV reporter woman. As for the other NPCs it was a cost issue I think - spending an hour in the face generator can never be beaten even by scanning.

I had to optimize the low poly because Dota has a 400 poly limit for the particular hero this sword goes on. When I took the low poly from zbrush, the thing had about 538 polys, so i had to cut some edges quite a bit. Is that what's screwing me up?
uh, env rendering is nice! but if you find time, may think about composition again? since we're looking on both chars from the side, same distance, it seems a bit flat. would be a pity. maybe you can focus on one char more (as hero, attacker/ defender) and align composition accordingly?
