So you want to do a wireframe overlay? Copy your mesh, apply a push modifier to it, and then assign a new material to it and set that material's basic parameter to "Wire". But there are a few different ways to get different results.…

Maya does that occasionally to see if you still care. It's been like that for at least a few generations of Maya. I expect Autodesk to make it worse, but add a few worthless features (probably some other method of making hair or higher polygon default cubes or something in that nature)
Yeah this bugged the hell out of me in 2008. If you crease any edge, there's no going back - you get that massive thick edge display for good. I think there's a script on highend3d for getting rid of it. Still can't believe Autodesk released it with plainly obvious bugs like that.

Hello! I´m new at autodesk Maya 2014..So im having some problems with the revolve tool here.. I draw the line and closed the curves, but when i choose to revolve the curve it gets really big and kind of out proportion..:( sorry for the English..

maybe there is also a script to turn that on. Autodesk also turned it off for Max after Max 2013 i think. When I asked about it, they told me that this isn't possible anyways and who would need that? Oh well, turned out they made a toogle and didnt create UI for it...
