Hi! Checked the UVs after applying the modifier as it was setup in the file. The UV borders of holes remain square, which I think explains the artifacts your getting: This is due to the subdiv modifiers UV smooth setting is set to "Keep Boundaries": You can preview modified UVs without applying modifiers by checking…
Hey all. I'm trying to create a custom 3d Tree for a game. I'm currently making the branches in 3d so I can bake them onto a plane and scatter the plane all over a low poly tree. The problem I'm having is that modo just doesn't seem to want to give me a functional diffuse color bake, even when I render to outputs using…
Hi All, At the start of this weekend I had a list of normal issues that I was hoping to resolve and so far polycount has helped me with all but one. You guys are awesome, I don't know what I would do with out this community :) My last issue I'm trying to wrangle with is why black borders along certain UV border edges. In…

Hello @scottycharly , I have just finished with the model. I ended up using the same scenario but with different lighting. I added more geometry to the black tape and the shaft, so now it raises a little bit, as @zetheros mentioned. The edge of the blade is now more reflective, and the maker's marks go inwards to the…
I have a dirty 8-sided-hole cap script you can use if you like. fn caphole _obj=( --polyop.getVertsUsingEdge <Poly poly> <edgelist> max modify mode subobjectLevel = 3 edgesel = polyop.getEdgeSelection _obj if (edgesel as array).count>0 then ( thefaces = #{1..(polyop.getnumfaces _obj)} firstedge = (edgesel as array)[1]…
Yeah, really, I'm not sure. My last girlfriend heard about me from her friend and facebook-messaged me. I had no idea who she was at the time, despite going to the same school, but we ended up dating for like 2 years. ...Then she broke up with me for moving across the country. Then some weird chick came up to me at a cafe…
Pinning UV's doesn't make your unwraps better, it simply makes unwrapping faster. Quality comes mostly from experience. Use a tool for long enough and quality and speed start blending together. Pinning doesn't have to occur at a border edge, but if you have squared off a UV shell and want it to remain squared, then you…
You deleted the </div> tag for your footer. Try this code, it should fix it. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Daniel Paynter's 3D Portfolio Site</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type"…
To me it looks like those border edges are treated as hard by default, or the cage goes over the edge. Does it display some artifacts on the mesh itself? If that is a problem, I'd personally extrude one more loop from those for baking purposes only, and remove it once everything is baked properly. It's generally a bad idea…
