MODO: Why is baking colour/diffuse maps not working for me? =(

Hey all. I'm trying to create a custom 3d Tree for a game. I'm currently making the branches in 3d so I can bake them onto a plane and scatter the plane all over a low poly tree.

The problem I'm having is that modo just doesn't seem to want to give me a functional diffuse color bake, even when I render to outputs using diffuse coefficient output.

When I try to bake using diffuse colour all I get is a full white output. When I try to render to outputs using diffuse coefficient output, it doesn't solidify the edges so I'm left with a soft edge that gives me a darn white fringe. (No UV borders)

The Uv borders work fine with just about any other output that I bake

Has anyone done this before? It's driving me nuts! I baked out the normal just fine. I've looked all over and can't find the proper way to do this.
