i would take the advice above i would also add that if you want to work in a studio at some point. dont get into freelancing. i made the mistake of thinking getting experience through freelancing would help me get a studio gig. it actually did the opposite :( studios will not hire you for entry level junior rolls if you…
Hey guys having a bit of an issue with my Mesh groups and color IDs in DDO. Its been a couple of months since I used DDO for a project, but I don't recall having these issues before, but anyway I'll just list them: a) Color IDs only working for one mesh group. Maybe I'm mistaken but isn't it possible if two mesh groups are…
Hello! I started learning Plasticity recently and wanted to share some of my thoughts about the software. Maybe this will be interesting for people like me, who have a poly-modeling background and consider giving CAD a go. First of all I was pleasantly surprised how "artist" friendly Plasticity is. The interface is very…
The smart materials list and the Quick PBR list (ID link tab) seems to be two different thing. I see the ID link function like a quick way to define a surface by its material and mask him from other materials type at the same time. It will add a default material at runtime base on the selected value ( i.e. steel, wood…
Thank you. :) Not that I'm not accepting of critique... but it is always nice to get some support. I when i posted the renders I did notice that the normal map wasn't really adding geometry. I did add a kickplate at the bottom of the door. I'm not going to add anything more because my highpoly model isn't well done and I…
I mean in DDO. If you look at the DDO UI, there's multiple tabs for each map. So when you're in the Gloss tab within DDO, you're working on the Gloss.psd in Photoshop. Adjusting colors and texture intensity in one map doesn't affect anything in the other maps, however the DynaMask and texture scale generally updates for…
Hey guys! First post on polycount! I Wanted to share this piece, I hope you like it! Introduction I love games like Dead Island or Requisition VR. For this portfolio piece I wanted to get inspired by the crafty, impossible yet believable weapon designs of these games. What better than C4 attached to something like a…
so basically i'm making a game, but i use a very old computer and so my dad said if i make a snake game on C i get a Gaming PC (A fast Computer). So i need YOU to make me an exact copy of google snake. but you might say "why should i help somebody if i don't get anything!". you are literally helping me make a game that…
@Eric Chadwick Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. :) I agree that the lighting still needs adjustment to better match the reference, and doing a proper side-by-side comparison is a great suggestion. I’ve been refining the lighting continuously, but that’s definitely something I can be more systematic about…
I've discovered one thing I did forget to do with my Photoshop file - I didn't enable my ID (maps) folder. Having that overlayed as helped with its overall look, but I'm still not having much luck with the specularity. I did try adding a Noise filter in Photoshop, but it could barely be seen to be worth bothering with. :-\…
