Haven't posted in a while. Did some cleanup and added the final detailing on the skin and metal a little bit ago and have started on the low poly. I'm trying a new method for retopology and it's taking forever lol, so getting to baking is going to be a ways away. The color texture isn't exactly where I want it to be, so I…
I'd probably try to drastically reduce the polycount of that element (reproject it later if necessary) so you can manipulate it with greater ease to get a bit more even texture flow, or use soft selections and pinning along with relaxing (or combine both approaches) to get the best possible outcome, but there will be some…
When I apply a generator or smart material they typically use baked textures (curvature etc) to generate edge effects. Is there any way to use a painted height layer to add to this effect? Currently they are ignored or at least I cannot see how to use them. :poly115: Thanks
I had my computer go down for maintenance nearly every other month last year. Turns out a RAM stick was bad. And the GPU VRAM was also glitching. And a HD started to fail while another imploded. The mobo is also suspicious. Wonderful times. After RMAs and tweaking to stabilize it so it could limp ahead for a little longer…
You should try to find more reference of this location, so you can see it from different angles, closeups, without the motion blur, etc. One image isn't going to give you enough information, especially when you're just starting out. A lot of reference is key! Landscape in games typically mixes two main techniques...…
Sup folks :) How much of performance boost we can expect if we jump from RTX 2060 6Gb to 5060 Ti 16Gb? We notice how Painter start significantly drop performance when we reach available VRAM and start to use RAM, but frankly we have no idea about how GPU performance itself affect Painter calculations? I bet someone di some…
I tend to agree with Ged. I'd add more color. The grass is a great start, you can keep it all earthy and such. It just needs something extra. Being an old Cathedral, let's assume that they would have decorations and banners hanging down (more than Catholics do this but its who comes to my mind) to symbolize different…
Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Season 1. Started in 3ds Max, then finished in blender, Bake in Marmoset Toolbag, and textured in Painter. Below are simple screen grabs in Painter with basic viewport settings. Thoughts are welcome on anything but I am far more concerned with material definition than…
perhaps yeah! Well, if you bake this in substance painter, you're going to not only get your normals, but you'll gett he AO, the curvature maps etc. which let's smart materials go to town and use this information and provide different results. It's not just throwing a material down and calling it a day. Some smart mats…
Hi everyone! So I mostly do stylized art but I'm a big fan of Star Wars and want to make a large scene. I want to make it a more realistic art style and check out if I can manage that. So as a test I made a gun from Star Wars... The DC-15S. The blaster is used by clone troopers in the republic era. I want to use this in…
