The price is still too hefty and has weird limitations. At that point you may as well use Blender. Though at least they're trying a new model, I guess. I probably don't even use 1/10th of the functions and features in Maya.
you should work much more on the silhouette of your char... if you apply a surface shader to your model and turn it around in the viewport you wont see all those polygons... i could create the same silhouette with a 10th of your polycount...
i sincerely hope you're not a convinced anglophile, because dutch english is somewhat american-sounding, heh. When are you going to London, anyway? i'll be there from the 24th of this month to the 10th of october, and wouldn't mind meeting up with some polycounters myself.
wow... it's VERY nice. a lot LOT faster than cs5. load time is ~1/10th, liquify is wtf amazing at high resolutions... and generally feels more responsive overall. running the 64bit version btw. also, this is just my first impression.
"Duke Nukem Forever was officially announced on April 27, 1997 along with the purchase of a license to use the Quake II engine." 10 years of developement.. wowza! thats a long long time in a busy industry like video games. i wonder how many more years it will take them.
Does Modo handle high polygon counts well? Max can handle 10th of millions of polygons easily. There was a chart somewhere that showed comparative viewport performance for high poly scenes. I believe max was best, but I can't remember Modo's performance.
Just relaying this. I believe I will check it out. I live in San Diego......... _______ Join Gnomon School of Visual Effects for 3December: The Making of 2012 with special guests from Autodesk, Digital Domain and ScanlineVFX. Snaccum I completely agree with you, but compared to your isolated case of becoming a happy consumer it still doesn't solve a problem of mass piracy. And in IL case even if a 10th of those pirated bought the game at launch it would double their revenue. Thats a scary number.
kind of almost finished another project for 3d printing, currently test printing everything on my little printer, will be around 1/10th scale :3 A little bit inspired by the old school ridiculous and cool over the top Heavy Metal magazine illustration style
About 3/4's of the way to the completed Low-Poly game mesh. It's sitting at 4,519 tris. With school getting in the way, I haven't touched this since March 10th. I'll be continuing and completing this through the weekend, giving me a 4-5 day completion span.
