yeah im excited by it, but seriously worried aswell, this could be such a cool movie (im thinking cool 70s style perhaps Convoy without the drivers) but i see it going bad if they change all the characters and "cool-em-up" by making them modern and bland

I'm afraid this will be a turd, unfortunately. It's directed by Michael Bay, director of some wonderful movies such as Armageddon, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, and Bad Boys II.

No no no no, what you do is make the most badass thing you can then when its movie comes up at the first sign of stink abandon that baby like robocop 3. And say you're better than hollywood. If it fails blame the adaptation if it's good say you could have done three times better for half the budget, now sit on your next ip until you get total control and three times the budget spent on the first movie, now hire a bunch of unknowns and spend the balance of what you'd normally spend on overpaid established talent on advertising, being careful not to give away that the movie stinks if that's the case and you can retire.

I agree with the lot of you. I hate hate HATE! Michael Bay, but let me give you something else to think about for a second. He always does some badass car chases. Pair that up with Transformers and at the very worst - we will be in for some awesome chase scenes. Granted - the movie on a whole will be a pile of shit and will suck horribly though.

VW BUG. A Bumble Bee is a Bug. Naming the character that is a yellow and black VW Bug "Bumble Bee" makes sense.

I was a little surprised when they hippified Sonic, but wouldn't think it would be possible with Bumblebee. OH! Unless you make him into a Camaro. That would do it. Bah!

Please let that tank be Brawl, and not Megatron. It looks cool and all, but Megatron transforming, shrinking, and popping into the hand of his nearest lackey would be even cooler!

Bumble Bee will never be a VW bug again. VW does not let it's brands be associated with war toys or movies anymore apparently. (Though I think a Mini Cooper would have been the perfect choice.)

Brawl is the police car.

"Devestator" is the tank. ""'s because that's his unofficial name.

In the end, it's all licensing. Can't make them certain cars anymore because some companies don't give the permission. What can you do?

I'm sure the polt will suck, but what do you want from a 20 year old ip who's story was built around pre-existing toys? Plus, the story is a total 'reboot', not a 'retelling'. So expect many changes.

1) The camero looks too much like the new/retro mustang.
2) I am very excited to see one of my childhood favorites brought back and given some high tech lovin. I am more interested in more of a direct translation of the old G1 cartoon (minus spike). I hope they do it without any of the modern anime crap tossed in to try and make it more palettible for the kiddies today.

3) I am also greatly troubled by recent events involving transformers being whored out. It was transform and roll out not transform and sell out.
4) I hope they remember thier audience is not 9 years old anymore and kids today think transformers is a joke with the latest abomanations they keep putting out on saturday mornings.
5) Hopefully it won't be 2.5hrs of optimus posing with a pepsi in his hand as it cuts to scenes of the mustaro doing donuts out in the salt flats.

i've been waiting 20 years for this so i really hope they dont mess it up.
in some aspects they seems to be missing the mark and what set transformers apart from every other robot story.

bumblebee looks a bit too much like the robot from the citreon commercial for my tastes here. I hope they atleast get his face right....liquid metallic sludge face..and lips

I too would have given up Hawken's arm to work on this film

I also like the looks of that robot. I've been trying to identify what type of car he'd be though. I believe they worked out deals with manufacturers to actually use RL vehicles. I wasn't expecting physical bots though. I figured they'd be all CGI (except in car state).

The most I can figure, is that the director of the trailer used the Bumble Bee model pictured above. The asthetics are the same. Same shoulder pieces and head crest.

It's just supposed to be 'a bad transformer' in the trailer. I'm sure using the physical model was a better choice than having ILM make a render for it.
