Recently did my first material pass. Things are definitely still in their early stages, but getting there. Making progress.

You can check out the original post to keep up with the progress and give feedback:

I am trying some stylized stuff for the first time. I bought a tutorial on Flipped Normals and been working on this stylized sword. Thread: https://polycount.com/discussion/238103/stylized-sword-exercise#latest

The basic intent of this WAYWO thread is for people to post a single preview image of their WIP, along with a link to see/comment on more.
Edit: Thinking about trying out Substance Designer. I've never used it before.
Not sure if I posted this already, though i did do a British police car as well
lot's still left to do and fix

I will post the police car, though i think i may have already posted it, not sure
Check out my animation here 🗿https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZQFOPlYW2Nc?feature=share
easy to move around or animate and renders pretty fast. not really noisy either, no denoising on this
Still a heavy WIP , both of them.
I think I'm nearing the final stages so I'm excited! https://polycount.com/discussion/238266/wip-inca-inspired-cave-ruins/p1?new=1
Then add a subd and a shrinkwrap modifer to wrap to the high res version. This way you don't get a 'grid like' retopo. fairly quick and non destrucitve AND you can get the different levels of subdivision for the new mesh . you do get a few artefacts, but they are easily brushed out
I think the retopo took an hour or 2. This jacket is not MD ( hand sculpted it back in 2012)
Working with a Star Wars mod team to make models that go in game.
I wanted to make a blaster that fits in universe but not exactly one that would be in the shows or movies. I used a Kotor Blaster Pistol as the reference for the shape. It has to be mid tier poly for First Person views. Currently 8.5k tris and 4.5k vertices.
Not even close to some of the amazing work in this forum but I will keep trying!
I'm working on my portfolio and would appreciate your help!
I'd love to get some feedback on this stylized diorama I've been working on in Blender. I am practicing optimization and it has about 47k tris, is it too much?
I’d also love some advice on texture setup. How many texture sets would you recommend for an asset like this?
How would you personally group the meshes into texture sets?
Best workflow for feedback is to make your own dedicated Topic, maybe in 3D Art Showcase & Critiques, then people can give you targeted feedback.
The basic intent of this "What Are You Working On" thread is for people to post a single preview image of their WIP, and add a link to see more and get feedback (if desired!).
Best way to embed images here is to drag-and-drop the file, directly in your post editor. More info here.
Happy Polycounting.
