Saw a special on cults the other night that compelled me to look up the final Jim Jones tape from Jonestown. This tape is powerful, and not for the feint of heart.

This is interesting. Having issues with depression? Social or performance anxiety? Low self-esteem?
Quit the porn. It's not natural, and you are not wired to handle it.

That's just an argument against doing anything that produces a large amount of dopamine too regularly surely, it applies the same to games, eating, going out clubbing or whatever you find fun. But both extra low and extra high levels of dopamine have shitty effects, he just seems to have forgotten that middle grounds exist and there is a space in between no internet porn and 24 hour bestiality marathons :P
I mean you shouldn't give up games cus you enjoy them but you shouldn't let them entirely dominate your life either. Besides the bias in his information gathering is extreme, getting info from people who had to quit porn due to ED means you will get the absolute WORST effected and no one else, I mean if you got information on games from people who lost their jobs or dropped out of college due to it you'd get a pretty miserable set of side effects to put on the back of the box but that isn't most peoples experience
I think the logic seems sound. What could their agenda possibly be? My concern is that many people will justify that it's all bunk because they have an actual addiction. There's something truly peculiar about modern porn that makes it far worse than most of any dopamine addictions. I suggest watching the presentation again if you missed that information, he explains it better than I can. If there are any doubts, you could try quitting for 10-20 days and see the withdrawals and the advantages for yourself.

Specifically the frequency of dopamine triggers. The studies he gave showed the triggers being actual "clicks." In just 10 minutes of viewing pornography, a user will experience far more triggers than other activities commonly viewed as addictive, that's why he feels (and the studies show) that this isn't just a problem for "those guys."
I gave it up years ago for religious reasons, but it's very interesting to see research like this being done. Makes me not want to have kids.

When I say Agenda, I don't mean a Governmental style underhanded research, but more something like a streamline of the research.
For example, this has been argued thousands of time on how playing violent games = playing chess, not in terms of skill, but gratification on the basic level, and what stimulates us.
So while violent games don't cause real life violence, they don't exactly void it too, but that raises questions about how ones 'fetish' for a certain pleasure is their right since they're not harming anyone, and people who do more mundane things get the same pleasure, etc. It's a very slippery slope debate which has plagued many Psych. talks for years.
In THIS talk, the guys is tunnel visions the basic idea to porn explicitly, which while fine, is a very fine line to debate, because like everything in life, we work off benchmarks, the more you have, the more you have to tangentially talk and work off them alongside your own research.
Also, it doesn't help that we already have a word for people to watch too much porn, its called a "Porn Addict", and at that point, you need to seek professional or personal help because you're mentally ruining yourself, having a Ted talk about this seems kinda silly, because everything in that talk is describing the snow ball of an addiction in a conventions that costs hundred of thousands of dollars to organize.

But he's not talking about addicts... You don't have to be an addict to experience the effects of what he's talking about. He's suggesting even a "healthy" level of usage can cause changes in the way you think and behave...
Yeah, I dunno about that one. Like I said elsewhere, it looks like it's lost most of the edge that the first one had. Might be some fun still, I'm just predicting far from as good as the first.
indeed, that 'porns make ur head bad' stuff isn't awesomeness or hilariousness. It's just fearmongering, kinda like that disgusting stuff from the page before we tried oh so hard to deter.

The creators of Adventure Time have a new youtube series if you're interested called Bravest Warriors.
Avanthera, that is really awesome. Some cool inspirational stuff, very creepy. And it's nice that they have a selection of ambiance in there to listen to with it.
WOAH. Wowaaaaaahahhhhhh. Man, Neverhood was all sorts of awesome...but the line that sealed the deal for me in that article was that Terry Taylor is back to do the music.
Please paint me an episode of popular Saturday dating show Take Me Out in which the young man coming down the love lift is the Norris-Thing from The Thing. It is attempting to absorb and replicate the desperate screaming female contestants and to the side Paddy McGuinness vomits on his chest in fear. This horror could have been averted if not for the fact that Kurt Russell, sitting in the audience armed with flamethrower and a mighty beard, has spotted himself on camera and is waving to family.
