anyway the series got canceled after 2 or 3 shows, cant remeber the name and want to google it to try and find the plot summary since they never got to reveal what was going on.

You're awfully negative, Wasker. I think it's fair to assume that the lighting and atmospheric effects art artistic choices rather than some inept way to cover up issues with the models and that Legendary would have worked with Valve to get the correct filters for Ellen McLain's voice.
Simply put the movie looks sincerely, unabashedly fun, which is something that sets it aside from the Battleships and Transformers of the world. The fact that Del Toro is attached mean that there's a very good likelyhood that it'll do exactly what it sets out to do.
I'm sure an evangelion movie would be better than this. Giant robots vs giant monsters, this is japanese influence 100%.
I know art is subjective but the designs I see in this trailer just looks bland to me. If you compare the trailer to another Guillermo del Toro movie, like Pan's Labyrinth you'll find so many fresh designs and scenes just in the trailer. The robots and monsters in the pacific rim doesn't have that same freshness to them.
Everything about it just looks like your average Hollywood summer action movie to me.
I think the designs are MEANT to be kind of a throwback.

no no no, i just said an evangelion movie would be better than this, just as plain as that. I think i should have wrote in another paragraph that this movie has 100% japanese influence.
I also think the robot designs are not that great.
Real Steel, 2011, is a film i remembered when i watched this trailer.

I don't know about you, but when I was 10 I loved all sorts of Robots, Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man, that kind of stuff. Do I still like kids stuff now? Hells no, I'm a grown-up. But I'm also not the target audience for that stuff anymore. Kids are.
This movie would have blown my mind if I had seen it when I was 9, and it'll blow my little cousin's mind when I take him to see it.
But as far as a thought-provoking artistic movie with interesting dialog, great cinematography, amazing acting, deep plots... can't expect any of that from a kids movie.
