What is the correct pronunciation for Wacom?

"Whack-em"
"Wock-um"
"Way-com"

I remember reading on CG Society that it's a German company and the official prononciation is "Vah-com" ... still doesn't keep me from calling it "Way-com" though!

I've heard someone pronounce it "May a" whereas I've always pronounced it like "Mai ya".

+1 to zed brush and I'm assuming most people from the UK will also pronounce it that way.

zbrush = zed - brush
wacom = wa - kom
modo = moe - doe
softimage = soft - e - marge
maya = may - ar (like "mayor", with a higher pitched ending)

edit; actually when I think about it more, wa - kom is more correct than wak - om

I blame the lack of variety on the poll and rick's reply saying "wak - om" making me think that would be my choice as well

Waycom always sounds funny to me (and is apparently incorrect huzzah!). Disappointing that it's the most popular.

I used to say "Zed Brush" as did a bunch of my friends but we eventually came around to saying zeeeeebrush after one of our instructors pointed it out and bugged us about it. Zbrush is one word, it's not z-brush or z brush, the letter isn't it's own thing, so pronounce it like Pixologic do.

I also say it softimaahge, though usually refer to it as XSI. I have also heard people say "maeya" before, which is really weird.

It's a Japanese company, but their European HQ is in Germany.

I speak english and the rules of english say it's pronounced way-com... if you want it pronounced differently then spell it differently, derp

How do you figure that? There are plenty of examples of a long A sound following a W, even though you weren't serious.

I'm more interested to see the majority of people explain why they pronounce it "way - com" because I can barely think of any word that begins with a wa and isnt followed by a y or an i to sound like "way".

And for the words that I can think of, they are all directly followed by an e in the next letter. For example;

Wales
Wage
Wafer
Wade
Wake

In Wacom's case, there is no y, i or an e after the c so theres no way it should be pronounced "way-com".

My argument still stands, just because they pronounce a whole city incorrectly, it doesn't make it right

Edit #2: It was actually meant to be "Hueco", now I can see why Americans renamed it to Waco and pronounce it like "Way - co" - to make it sound more like its origin.

If it's Japanese then...

...it can be pronounced; Wa as in wacky followed by -kom as in bomb

...or; Wa as in water followed again by -kom as in bomb.

Any other pronunciation is just weird, in my opinion.

Then again, this is the modern age...

I call it "waaah-kom" because that's just how i first read it all those years ago (and there was really no one around to me then who could have known better or not) and i kept calling it that even tho everyone at the office kept telling me "hey, that's "waycom!!" later on. But this has always been my waaahkom and it will always be, no matter what the rest of the world says :P
And i'd also go with zed-brush

I guess it's social concensus that decides how pronunciations go these days.

The age of Grammar-man has ended ;_ ;

Everyone around my area calls it wah-kom, which is the official pronunciation (according to Wikipedia).
But ~uguu, strange; some groups of people online call it way-kom *cough* *cough*.

Unity through Internet isn't quite there yet...
