Haha, I would much prefer to be asked how many vertices a cube is unwrapped.
Would be better if the question changed month to month. Or pulled from a database of questions that kept track of usage (to keep people from passing on the answers).

So, with each face seperate? 24. All connected by one side, and sewn together? 14.
Right? So that question is too vague, and it would annoy people since they'd have to do maths.
Maybe just something like Zbrush's search questions. Like, What is Z+Brush. Or, How many points in a triangle?
Simple stuff.
But seriously, I'd prefer first-post moderation. It sucks if you have an important question to ask, and you've never posted- but it works.
Looks like James569 and Ocie1 got together and exploded all over PC's cleavage this morning.
out of interest. Reporting just one of the spam post is enough for the Mods to track the rest down... right? I don't fancy waiting 60 secs to reporting them all.
It'd make sense if they had a user nuke at there disposal. just delete all posts by such and such user.
Not too hard to code if they haven't. Just test it on a dummy version first please. I deleted all my user's and permissions on my last database thanks to a rouge var carrying into the query.
Is it possible to automatically flag users with less than 100 posts that suddenly post a dozen or more links? Also, I am in favor of keyword filtering.
Lisa1 just went crazy with her shit as well. Reported.
These spam bombs seem to be getting bigger every day.
Could PC implemented a rule that new users can not post links or use BB code until they've created 5 posts? I dont know the workings of a forum so I done know how easy that is though.
Polycount has been under heavy attack lately. Lisa1 bumped a ton of threads earlier in P&P and some bot was just posting a bunch of spam threads on this board. If there's any way that we could get some sort of security verification in place, I'm all for it.
The weird thing is, it's not even adding adds into the posts; so what's the point?
Just click "quote" and you'll see a hidden URL. Also these URL's are appearing as clickable links in emailed notifactions if you are subbed to a thread.
The spammers are starting to "stack" lol! Best name yet is "Fuck1" posting now in Tech Talk even has an avatar. I think James83 has hit a record number of spam posts 23!

On another forum, someones' bots pieced together "sentences" that almost fit the discussion, usually based on keywords already in the threads. These posts didn't always have links (or were the malformed ones, dunno), but were annoying to ban; made it hard to distinguish non-native english speakers from bots for a while.
Its an old storage device used for film recordings and music recordings.
His point was: The Admins need to clean this site.
EDIT: I still favor the part when I first joined this community. My first post would be monitored before it was actually posted in the general disussion.
Its a shame they excluded that from this community and now face massive spam bots.

that`s annoying as hell , makes you even not register at all. Or forums where your first 10 posts or something need to be approved thats even worse

Why, its just one post, your first one. If you are just going to join to post one question, as a community, polycount don't really need that person. To post the first post, be it an introduction, can't be that much hassle.

We are. We're clearing out at least two pages (100+) of reported threads/posts every day. We have to manually go through each one, clicking a link, click through to the thread, then look for the spam to delete. It's tedious work.
Not to mention that there's no indication of which threads have already been moderated by another moderator. So I click through all of these reports, click through to the thread/post in question, look for the spam, then see "this post was deleted for reason: spam. by: moderatordude". It's annoying that I have to waste my time clicking through all that, just to find it's already been done.
It'd be nice if we could find a way to block em, but that's not really possible I suppose. They'll always find a way.

Either have a clean Polycount society or not so clean Polycount domain, where you cant stand the amount of spam bots / spammers.
The choice is yours.
I was simply telling you how tight things were back in the days that when there was a new member, his first thread/post would be monitored before it would actually be displayed in any of the sections, then they would keep an eye on that member for his next 5 posts or so (I think.)
or maybe a little question like , what are the first 3 letters of the word "sparta"? you write down "spa" in the box assigned to it and it's done, make something like a hundred of variations and i doubt that they will recode their bot just for polycount, if they do then they have something against the forum :P

mmm, triangles are polygons right so 1 and 3 are kinda correct at the same time.:]

Did I just see an Aryan looking man Drop-Kick a small Asian girl which didn't involve porn?

Our cassettes are dirty and in dire need of washing.
If you by 'cassettes' mean 'penis' and by 'washing' mean...wait damn...
Yep. Deja'vu of the day..

I was being sarcastic . It seems odd to me that the site is about cassette cleaning when no one has needed to clean one in about 10 years.

Lol. Finally this thread gets hit. Oh, the irony.
Is this a joke or is this a new kind of spam that I haven't seen yet? If so they aren't even bothering with text anymore.
Reported anyway.
btw: I removed the / on the img tags so that whatever the images are don't appear in my quote.
Isn't it possible to ban and delete all of the accounts posts?
I think I'd prefer the spam to that, it's a little annoying but nothing compared to captcha.
I clicked on New Posts the went to page 2. Go this pop up. I didn't dare click to start the survey. The window closed itself after about 30secs.
Is it official or spam?
Whatever it is. Its annoying.
