Awesome before and after shots, all that detail work makes a huge difference. Can you talk about the workflow at all? Some of the shadows look a bit stencil-y in the befores- is that a pre lightbake preview in idStudio?
That is really something. It's really cool to see before and after shots, cheers for uploading them. I hope I can do stuff like that some day! Congrats on RAGE by the way, I managed to play it at Eurogamer in london, it was really fun and looks great.
Phillip, I am really interesting in the way id Tech 5 changes the whole texture creation work flow. I really want to know how is it comparing to the old way?
What tool did you use to create splines for paths/ roads?
Did you use zbrush to create you instances( building blocks) for the level e.g rocks debris?
I watched the demo video for the ID Software your application of decals and stamps look immesnsed and so free and easy. Well jealous!!!!
I should have asked this a while ago, but I was wondering how the big terrain chunks/props were created. Are these purely ZBrush sculpts or was something procedural used like World machine to get that amazing looking erosion. Anyone care to post a piece of that beautiful rock and show the steps to generate it?
Really impressive work. I think RAGE is the most beautiful game on current generation. I don't remember what I was doing mostly when I was playing this game - playing or admiring the environments
