Have to say I noticed the line through the eye and I am not a big fan of it. It is quite distracting. Besides that everything is looking really great. Can't wait to see more!
The abdominal area has a really weird amount of anatomical detail considering the overall style. It has always bothered me how the characters don't have sclera, just pupils on flesh. Also, so many poofy pants...
Good point on the stomach, Wex. They totally have sclera. It just happens to be flesh toned. Poofy pants are in in Ethios as well. Gotta keep up with fashion!
Did you eventually play Tales of Xillia? Even if not so,you should take a look at the Sky above Fennmont. Maybe you could improve your night sky that way, because right now the sky itself looks rather plain compared to the clouds and the moon.
And the clouds look a little weird at the moment, the edges do have many small details which let them look kina noisy in some places. And there's something else bothering me, but I can't figure it out atm.
Thank'eh! I'd made the stars orange-ish so that they'd contrast nicely with the rest of the sky. Although I wonder if I should make them purplish as well so that everything can be analogic? That's probably make it easier to get decent palettes going later on.
I'd guess purplish would be fine. Something like a light Cyan could work aswell. If you want to stay with the orangish, I'd go for a more desaturated/lighter color, like almost white, so that you only have a slight bit of orange in there.
Thanks man;! You make me feel lovely! I'm glad you like it.
How about some gifs?
Each of the characters has their own style when in combat.
Ellie deals moderate damage over a wide area with combo attacks:
Gil does immense damage to single targets, and his attacks can be charged:
And Van does the least amount of damage, but he throws punches as fast as you press the button. His hasn't been implemented yet, unfortunately. Poor Van; always getting left out.
Sketched up a design for mounts that the characters use for mid-distance travel; basically the equivalent of horses or Loftwings.
These things sit somewhat like cats, so the things on the back of the saddle act as stair steps that allow for easy mounting. Steering is mainly done by leaning in whatever direction you want to go and allowing the creature to correct itself.
Hah! You're gameplay mechanics look like real fun, but I think you could improve the lighting of the scene. Everything is pretty evenly lit and seems kinda flat right now. You could set some accents through lights from windows or lamps, that would make the scene more pop.
The scene itself is nowhere near finished; still needs some clutter, a few more components, and, as you say, some lighting stuff. Especially lightmaps.
Man, its been awesome watching this grow! Keep up the good work. Also, watching the gliding animation gave me Banjo-Kazooie flash backs. That's a good thing.
Hy,
just tuning in to say how much of an inspiration is to see this thread grow from the first posts to this moment! The animations are getting more and more smooth and specific to each character. I'd love to see the Chef busting some moves :P I kinda picture him with a blend of french/ghetto accent and very excentric and flamboyant moves :P
I love how this project is shaping up and the dedication you've put into it. Great work, keep up

Amerile, who runs the Item Shop. She's out a lot searching for oddities to sell or collect.
Charles, the Champion Chef. He runs the most magnificent bakery.
Jaerem runs the Weapon Shop. He's easily embarrassed.
Sid, the insane alchemist. He does alchemy, like you'd expect.
Messed around with Illya's main design:
Got around to modeling the robes that she's found in:
But I think Gil could use some more definition on his hair, it looks plain in comparison to his clothes.
Your style is great!
Here's another:
I made a far better set of wings for all of the bird people, as well.
i believe he mentioned it was a rendering error at first but then he liked it and changed the eyes to the line through the eyes
I think the majority think that the eye line isn't that great, so I'll probably remove it.
Redid Ellie. Again.
Here's a shopkeeper:

What if I put in some more clouds and painted some stars on?
Also, a front gate:
Aaaand a loading screen icon mockup:
That mockup is a great! Love those silhouettes.
For now, windows!
This is so inspirational it hurts. Absolutely awesome stuff dude.
Giving me such a Tales of Symphonia vibe (which is the best vibe) while still being its original unique entity completely.
You've gained a subscriber and a total fan. I hope you are planning to do some gooey indepth post mortem stuff eventually about the project!!!!

Know what? I may just do that. Sketched up a handful of outfits:
Here's a room I'm working on. It's certainly quite tall:
I've decided that Aves peeps' wings shrink down when not in use.
The front of the gold belt buckle is a bit hard to read though with those harsh darks.
How 'bout some aerial mechanics?

New shopkeeper, CHAMPION CHEF CHARLES. He runs a bakery in Highmill. It delivers!
