Quick portrait from imagination. But colors peeped from a Zorn-painting.
sketchbook stuff
And a first shot at doing a portrait in oils. actually went pretty well i think. 14x18, from life.
The medium is so messy and can be downright exhausting to work with (standing by an easel in Chucks for several hours. physically mixing paint) but despite all that I really enjoy it. Having something physical right down on the canvas is so much more special than just having a .jpg (no offense to digital art yo).
Your progress is amazing!
I've had some difficulty with oil photography, too.
Found out overcast days, outside and the painting slightly tilted downwards gets best results so far. + Some photoshop magic here and there to adjust small white-balance stuff and contrast.
Hope this helps!
