I've heard if there's stuff behind the portal, on either side, it can cause weird issues, try clearing up that stuff first.
Ok. I've dug the area/walls behind any portals i've seen, including the portal corridor created by r13. I think it has altered how they work now as I teleported to a few portals I haven't seen before. But I still can't tele back to my own portals.
Actually. maybe that portal corridor is causing a problem as all the portals are linked together.
Any chance it could be removed so we can at least rule it out?
well, thanks to whoever built the bridges that go off forever *rick?* i finally found my old fort I was building. Double thanks to whoever built a giant lava mountain on it all, destroyed a bunch of stuff, took my chest!!! good thing we have a white list.
I broke up the row of portals. there is one way down at the end, but no more shared blocks.
i have found that portals i create in the nether are stable. i come and go thru them as expected.
i think the issue might be some of the portals we have in the world are portals that were made before the nether was up and running. these don't have a paired one in the nether as it wasmt there to create. now when you go thru these already formed portals, it has to take you somewhere, so it goes to one of the other portals that where made after the 1.6 update.
Rogue, I got the 'google map' setup to render, but I'm not gonna host it on my site (almost 800mb). I can upload a zip of it if you've got somewhere to host it.
Has anyone considered using Dynmap? Its a real time map, which shows a google maps style overview, plus the current location of users. The end result being something like this.
FYI I have no idea how easy (or difficult) it is to set-up, I'm just throwing it out there. Apparently it requires hMod and/or Bukkit.
the dynamap is interesting, but the resolution is crappy. we're stressing the VM as is, so while I'm down for some mods; this one might be a bit too expensive.
having problems downloading the file; the download keeps randomly completing before it's REALLY done (first attempt was 780mb, this last one was 386mb...trying again, hopefully it works this time

I can't wait for pistons to come out... I'm considering making a base that's underwater and it has a 2x2 hatch in the roof to let water stream in from above.
That way you could place a boat in a shallow pond, sit in it... press a button and then let the water stream rush you to the surface of the ocean. Set it up to a timer so it closes after you clear the hatch.
