Was in a village and creeper blew through a fence. Didnt have any wood but fixed it up a bit and blocked with sand. Was just cruising through checking places out.

try to get into 0 as origin, you will see some default spawn point shelter, then keep going to where the sun set you will see sand village.
Im thinking to go to east, and abandon my house. if you look there are five chest, its all yours guys.
i just saw pretty green plain , large mountain and lake in the east. . want to go there again .
each texture square is 128X128? Will MC even run that and even if it will I think my PC would explode... or do you mean to reduce it when you've finished the textures?
If it runs that badly id probably think about scaling it down to 64x64 as it'd be better if more people could use it. Personally i've not tried out a HD texturepack, i just thought it'd be fun to do.
Ah...I see. I hadn't seen HD packs before. I expect they run pretty slow. Might give one a try and see what its like. I know for a fact my laptop will melt but my rig my be up to the challenge.
I've run a few HD texture packs before, generally worked well. There's been a few issues with some where textures don't apply correctly, but it's usually on incomplete or old packs.
I believe performance issues with "hd" textures are due to how the game writes to textures, like how lava, water and something like the compass is generated.

I've also noticed that things like the compass don't scale up with hd textures, to the point where they actually become unreadable.
Oh yeah, some funky stuff going on with the portals. I put one up on my place, and it plunked down a portal in the the nether a few yards away from Zac's. When I went back through it, it spat me out at a (presumably new) portal on the edge of the desert about halfway between my place and Zac's. I put some lit netherrack around it, and up on that stone archway someone built, to act as beacons.
Just died out in the boonies, dropped probably 3-400 clays I'd collected. I died from drowning (bs when I'm two blocks from the water's surface). I tried to go back to where it was, but the damn xp bubble bs caused such a framerate kill that I couldn't do a damn thing. I hope it doesn't mess up the mp server for anyone else.
I would like to vote that if possible we keep this current world when 1.9 comes out the world has not got all that large and people can seek out the new biomes..

Well, I can't play on the server any more. I would've thought after this much time the xp and items i dropped when i died would've despawned, but they're apparently still there and still making the game unplayable for me.

I think the "despawn timer" on items that belong to you stops when you log out. The other day I logged in after getting home from work, hadn't been online since the evening before and I saw some cobble spinning on the floor. I doubt anyone had been there minutes before I logged in. Everything looked untouched.
Maybe you should log in and have r13 teleport you to another location? Or is it lagging all over the world?
i died yesterday and when i went back, there was a big pile of xp and i just picked it all up, i got no lag or anything. I know Jmessie was tryin to play last nite and aparenltty he was gettin terrible lag and i totaly think it was related to any xp bubs,

Yes, I died and now there's so much lag when I try to log into polycount it's unplayable - it isn't my client, I have no trouble logging into other servers and the horrible lag is present regardless of the computer I log in with.
i even tried to go where meisse was when he died while he was online (he was laggin where he could not move) and i did not see any of his items still there
In case anyone wants it, I was building near flaagans house but with the NGHS contest and finishing up a game for the student IGF I wont have time for minecraft as much. So if anyone wants it they can tear down my house and take whatever is in the chest.
Both myself and my Mrs have been getting the same problem around x 285, z -90 ish- neither of us can move more than half a metre every couple of seconds- I hit F3 and saw that the memory allocation is on 99%.
I managed to get out of the dodgy area but got stuck again trying to direct my Mrs out of it and last night which is when it happened again, other players were saying they were getting lagged but as soon as I logged off it got better for them.
Bear in mind I'm on a Virgin 30 meg DSL setup, with only Skype running in the background.
Is there something going on round this area or is it a bug for Mojang to know about?
managed to crawl along to 268, -27 and it went back to normal- the F3 graph was going mental whilst I was stuck- The frame rate seemed smooth but it would pause for about a second or so, then move smoothly for half a metre then pause again- very frustrating
Is there any chance of FordMNX getting teleported back to the initial spawn point please?

Built a nether portal on the mc server today...
in the mean time, ima work on a painted texture pack ( 128x128 ) ...I may be some time \o/
