I understand this is far from final, but I see you are not going for the big-mouth-as-abdomen. I liked that in the later image. Is there a reason you are not going for it? I think it is a pretty strong and recognizable feature.
Its an great Character so far. I love it.. But this time you choose a non chick model, i hope you are planning something wicked with it... Anyway looking fwd to see how it goes... As always you are going to make it really awesome.
And BTW thanks for your NinjaGirl files... They are going to serve as a benchmark for me.
Guys don't be silly, you should read some info in thread before posting (Slipgate said he will scrap this char and you all talk about looking forward into detailing?:p)
Still... it was to be suspected... Nightmare was no sexy chick at all
I actually recorded the blockout stage, it has no value anymore since this stuff went down the toilet, but you guys can check it out, 40 minutes timelapse http://vimeo.com/21275000
I'm guessing that to turn everything black, he just pressed 7 to go into lighting mode, and with no lights in the scene, everything will be black.
I'm wondering, from your blockout, whatever it happens to be, where do you go from there to get a more finalized version? Do you start from scratch and try to make the shapes the same, or do you take what you already have and piece it together?
Cressida the next stage is to refine those ugly chunks, add some small details, sometimes volume. Fix quads, basically all that to prepare the mesh for finalization, to translate it to high-res with little effort
I liked the video. Looking forward to seeing the new block out. one of the things I am curias about is how long in the evening do you work on the model for. I know you work in he day so not much of personal work will go on then.
Man your moving fast, as usual! I can't wait to see where you take him. Sadly I do not know the character. I never played the Soul Calibur games. Looks like theres a lot of room for fun stuff... both hard surface and natural.
Setting the pace man... Now I just need to figure out how to keep up!
a little update to show that I'm still here and working on this, a sneak peek of where this is going. I'll give info on this once I'm done with full figure, right now it might not make any sense to you~
Taking longer than usual, this is more detailed base, gotta think of mechanics and volumes. Just torso now, legs and rest coming next.
Absolutely love what you're doing with the torso! Is that going to be some sort of reactor? Or does he drag opponents through there in a meatgrinder-like fashion?
Seriously though, Your stuff is brilliant. I aspire to this level of meticulous detail in the future. As soon as spring break gets here I got a lot of modeling to do to catch up!
Your design is friggin awesome, can't wait to see more.
Fantastic His like ultimate lumberjack. Cut trees with his head saw, and remove bark from trunks with his belly (although probably he cut limbs and remove skin from flesh). Anyways its really inspiring stuff to see

very efficient modelling there, where those splines you where making shapes out of?
