Thanks snader! Im really new to handpainted style...this is the first character ive textured 100% in photoshop as opposed to mudbox in years and im loving this...im still trying to address lighting in the diffuse like previously mentioned...im getting there ...cant wait to make his sword and shield, and possibly his mount (monkey bird!)
Was surprised at how much down time I had today to work on my little guy. Got everything pretty well block in. Haven't started sculpting the zip jogger yet, he is going to have a back back on with his skate board and other contraband. I want to wait till I have the back pack on so I can sculpt in the wrinkles accordingly.
^ awesome style is awesome...I love his frigg'n seatbelt looking belt haha, in that last shot I swear I heard it click :P
Why did you switch up the jacket and shirt? Concept has a long shirt and cut-off vest, and your model is the other way around...I gotta admit, I'm a little wierded out seeing sleeves going to almost his wrist, and his pants not even close to his knees...seems kind of out of place? Giving him a sweater seems wierd too with those short shorts...so I'd personally suggest giving him a t-shirt with that cut-off vest ontop...but that's just me
Did some handpainting practice at work on Friday.. Not using any photos (except for reference), just trying to hand paint everything from scratch. Was a really fun exercise!
@PogoP thats pretty dam impressive, at quick glance it seems real, but than after looking at for a while it has a stylized feel. are you going to work on spec, gloss and normals by hand, or diffuse olny

Spent a long time over the past few days trying to get the 'wet' look down on the road etc. bit too reflective i think but i'll wait till i have some rain effects in to play around with it any more...
[SF]Three9: Thanks! I gotta say I also think the unlit version of your model has a certain something going for it, but both look good in their own right.
Carl Brannstrom: Man, Speedy Cerviche sure has grown since I last saw him... nice job. :B
More progress from my thread, just looking for stuff to fix or polish now:
Spent quite a while today messing with zshaders. I'm not getting the results I want. I'll probably play around with the materials and lighting a bit more and move on. Bsp render in zbrush.
@TeriyakiStyle - hey thanks! It's Chavant NSP. It comes in a brown version as well which is pretty nice.
Made some progress over the weekend, still have a few things to model before going back through for a detail pass.
Things left:
1. Skate Board, Don't know how Im going to attach it to the backpack yet.
2. Machete, Don't know where I'm going to put it yet either, probably in his hand.

At first I thought that was a sculpt, but its 100% 2D? Nice
@onelunglewis Really great work on the model so far. As far as attaching the skateboard, to avoid obscuring the backpack, you could hang it below like a bedroll. The machete could be attached via leg holster. Just a few options. Keep it up man. Really diggin' it.
This is a little League of Legends skin I did for Leaguecraft's Spookycraft Contest
Also @breakneck: Hot shield, I still need to get fork over my 20 and get Murph's texture tutorial T_T I think that will be taking up my weekend ;-)
Also if anyone has the time, can you PM me which beauty shot I should use on my website? I kind of applied some sharpening to the texture to make it pop, but it might be a bit overkill T_T
Definitely the first one, the higher angle on the other pics is kinda wierd and doesn't really help the character IMHO, and the toon shading is nice. There seems to be some issues with the back of her ears though, most noticeably on the second shot.

@Jasp lol, he explodes before the laser hits him!
trucking away...first is with lighting+specular map, second is 100% diffuse
EtotheRic: yay for clay work!! keep it up man, lets see your piece finished
anyways just working on an anatomy study right now....needed a break from texturing another piece:
Anatomy crits very much appriciated.
I'm actually preferring this one over the shaded version.
Very cool man! I was playing this yesterday at our work halloween party. Didn't even know it was in production.

thats awesome!
Nah, he sits right next to me at work so that'd be kinda silly. He did this at work too, it was set for us to do as practice, but he did it last year

Nice work! I love everything about this painting especially the composition. That massive bridge just makes the entire cityscape look epic!
Really awesome piece of work!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
I didn't use Zbrush, just used a photo reference and tried to re-create it as closely as possible. Thanks guys!
