The aim is to make him more realistic of sorts, but might have went overboard. The shoulder size has stood out to others so they will be beefed up a bit. Just trying to make more sense out of them basically but it'll be a balancing act. Thanks for commenting.
Glad you like! Was not my intention to have him appear that rusty but there will definitely be some level of wear and dirt, not to mention battle scars, but I still want it to maintain its grace no matter how beaten up it gets.
A bit of an update on the model. Need to figure out a more visually appealing design for the boiler. Been also looking into how steam engines work. This video sums it up pretty nicely for anyone interested. http://youtu.be/g8LrAsL4oH0
Starting to look like something. Haven't started off gray-scale before on this type of work so I though I'd give it a try. Been working pretty good so far. Gets less messy when doing modifications.

Still a lot left on this guy but I finally found a rendering style I like. Before I put too much emphasis on edge highlighting which made it quite messy to work in all the gradations I want. Going for a cleaner style in that regards which makes the metal in particular look more believable. I'm still going with the plan to wear this guy down including scratching on the bare metal parts but that'll be for the finishing stage.
Also got a rig together that works most of the time.
That thing is cool! I really like the design and how it turned out. Its just a little dull, it needs a bit more contrast. The gold pretty much blends in to the grey of the rest. You can go way darker on the texture on some parts of the model!
You're right about that acapulco. Adjusted the values.
Not that much left to do on it I think. I cut the loin piece as I couldn't find a good way to show a logo/symbol motif on it. I almost like it better this way actually.
Need some help here. Want to make a mech but not sure in which direction I want to take it design-wise. Generated a bunch of thumbs and I want you to pick your favorite(s).
For anyone interested, I made these using markers, ballpoint pen and some gouache. Haven't done it this way a lot before but I like it.
Digging it! You have a really nice style. I love the lighting in the more rendered pieces and your sketches. I think i'm going to have to try some mech silouhettes with copic markers and ballpoint (since I don't have gouache). Cheers

More or less done with modelling the steam knight.
HAHAHAHA.......YES! This guy is freaking ACE!

I'm no expert, but I really like how you play with proportions in a lot of your designs, keep that up!
New wip. Not sure if I'll take it to finish. Either way I learned I should watch my eye placements when drawing.
Loving them.
The hair on the third one feels a little unfitting somehow, but I love the cloth!
Beats: You're too kind. Anything in particular that catches your fancy?
Another one for the style exploration thing. Not too happy about the values but a good experience none the less.

Nice to see how you worked them out as well
Personally, I like 3, 7 & 23 I think the most
And for something completely different. Skull study.
