I love the unique ammo bag design, really makes it stand out (along with the post-card/pin-up). I've been following your thread (along with many others), but when I came back to see progress, I went, "holy balls!" Great improvement.
I'm worried that ammobag will block masses of the screen, can we get a first person shot to confirm it doesn't?
I'm pretty sure you're looking at it the wrong way if you're worried about something like this, the bag is at the back end of the launcher, and on the most outer side of the launcher
I think the rocket launcher fits well but the Cuban Hat definitely looks off. The detailed normal map doesn't work at all. Try and paint in those details instead of using Normal Maps for them.

yes, def need to tone down the Normal maps for sure, or at least lower range gloss. i havnt tweaked anything, just threw it in with default values.
updated with a lower range Normal map as well as took out some of the details, also threw on a shader to get a better idea. im not ready to give up the normal yet but ill wait for the crowds reaction.
also decreased the gloss range to pretty much flat.
Looks MUCH better now but it's still not quite there! Could you try taking out those seams going down the front? They aren't there in the concept and the concept looks better in my opinion. Also have you textured this at all? It looks just like a color base and AO.
Great work Graff! Everything really works well together and just looks awesome in general. I do agree with Zipfinator about trying to remove some of the smaller seams.

How about putting that chalk kill counter (that's what I assume it is anyway) on the other side of the barrel? If that's what it is, it would make more sense on the visible side, as the soldier would use his free hand (the left one) to mark down kills on the left side of the barrel. It seems like the sort of thing he would do. And possibly have a soldier-esque motif written beneath it? Like screamin eagles, and all that jazz.

Overall, this is probably my favourite soldier theme.

wasn't there a limit on how many items you can have per slot? maybe cut two items and submit them seperate. and how would smoking animations work...
It's one item per slot per class with a minimum of 3 items total. (you can submit a maximum of 5 items per class: one main weapon, one secondary, one melee, one hat, and one misc)
That said you can always sort the folders as Contest and Extra... or just submit what you don't want to use for the contest to Contribute.
Also have you ever seen the Woodsman's Pal? It was the standard issue survival knife for paratroopers for a while during WW2. This is what it looks like;
It would work really well with the shovel animation too, and looks like the sort of brutal batshit-crazy skull cleaving thing the soldier would use in a fight.
i'd say "painted", by miles. the geometry thing just looks toooo much cartoony and intentionally fabricated instead of pieces stuck together and make a functioning weapon out of it
So far you've got 2 solid hats, a launcher, a misc. item, and a melee weapon built... I'd love to see you to do a secondary weapon like the shotgun for a full set of 5 submittable slot items.

This, tbh. While they look fantastic, they don't seem to fit into the universe like the concept drawings did.
Check the texturing guide thread, specifically the bit about normals, and how they're only rarely used.
