Thanks chickenman! I wish I could find a high-res version of that logo online so I wouldn't have to recreate it. I'll definitly use this company over mann co. I'll probably post more later, but Memorial Day set me back a little.
It's a neutral logo you could use for both Bottles.
Ignore the Corn picture, what I'm talking about is the small "Clem's" logo.
It doesn't say that they ONLY sell corn, they might sell other food/farming products as well.
Psyke- I did a color range in photoshop to pull the logo out. What did you do for yours
Simski- Thanks alot man. I'll probably end up going with the Happy Farmers Cooperative since it is already in a circular shape. It would look best on the hat, and I can put the entire label on the milk bottle.
first pass diffuse and ao on the gun. I'll probably shuffle color tomorrow and see what I like better. I could always make the colors similar to the original pistol?
I hope you are going to use a normal map for fine details? I mean the screw hole could be flat, and should be incorporated into the texture and not modeled like it is now I think. you already have so much roundness into the gun, I dont think you should model these small details that could hurt the quality of the silhouette of your gun, and I am pointing now at the bottom of the grip which looks very edgy and angular while it should be nice and smooth.
if you look at all the tf2 guns, they hardly model screws in, its most of the time a normal map, or simply a plain texture
You know what, the sepia color or the normal gun metal would be fine with me. I just wondered why it was that color. The handgrip could stay black instead of the brown it is now, I liked that color/texture.
sepia looks better to me, Evil is right about the screw hole, if for no other reason than it'd be hidden by the scouts hand the hole time and you'd never see it ao save them poly's!
The sepia colors are actually right off the tf2 example color sheet. The whole point of the sepia was to stray away from the original look of the pistol. I'm not sure I like the sepia as much as the silver now though. It kinda grew on me and it looks more tf2. I'll have to ask the guys at work and see their opinions.
The screw holes are modeled into the handgrib on the pistol. I was doing my best to match their model that's why it's modeled in. I don't think the pistol has a normal map either. For example the handgrip is completely modeled in on the left side of the slide.
I'm on vacation so I probably won't jump back on till this weekend. I appreciate all the c&c.
I took a couple hours tonight to knock out the Milkman hat. I needed to get away from the gun for a bit. The top section is a quick zbrush and the polycount is exactly 800. I'd like to keep the normal map- it looks better than just the ao.
As for the gun, I wanted it to look somewhat similar to the scouts original pistol. For example, the force of nature is very similar to the scattergun. I'll keep playing with the colors until it works.
Perhaps you should reconsider having the Happy Farmers logo team colored?
It would make more sense that a company would go with one neutral color for their logo rather switching between 2 colors.
Perhaps it could be some variation of black/gray/white to be more similar to the stencil you based it on?
I find that if it should make sense to have different colored logos, the logos should be from different companies.
The Milk logo posted wouldn't work as a company logo one would print or stitch onto a hat and how is Happy Farmers an inappropriate logo? Milk comes from farms. I can see how it would be appropriate for the actual milk bottle though. Accompanied by the Happy Farmers logo of course.

Idunno. Maybe you're right. But farms in TF2 only have cardboard cows.

The only real issue I have with the "Happy Farmers" is that it's very obviously a company owned by RED :O
I have looked at where it's placed in the game, and it's always on the RED side's products... so it just currently feels very strange to have the logo on BLU
The Logo is always stenciled in white color in the game too...
RED is more oriented toward farms and mom and pops style operations, while BLU is more steel and industrial.
This is true, however while I was running through granary I noticed that while the RED company in that map were in the Bread making business, the BLU company was in the Grain making business.
Basically this means:
RED and BLU can sell similar products.
However RED's products are farm made, while BLU's products are industry made.
So Spetch, if you have the capability, I would recommend making your own company logos for RED and BLU.
While this is harder work it would solve the issue of the existing logos not fitting both teams, and it would gain you some extra recognition from Valve for your creativity and dedication to make your item fit the TF2 universe.
are you guys really diving into the backgrounds of a logo on a milk mans hat?
really?
the idea gets across, it's a milk mans hat.
i dont think the general userbase is gonna go "OMG ITZ NUT BLU!"
the concept comes through strong enough, anything else is just extra hassle i belive
Wow, I leave for a night and this is what happens, lmao. Tell ya what, let me get the status of the gun, melee weapon, and milk up to the hat first. Then I'll tweak logos and fix whatever details are necessary. I dig that milk logo, I may use that on the actual bottle. Thanks for the insights guys, I appreciate the help.

im not, just figured id share it
dude, mann milk. its hilarious. im dying laughing just thinking about it. mann milk, lol
Here's the hat model, still needs quick texture. I'll probably smooth the front out and add the Happy Farmers logo
edit: BANG,
It's TEE EF CIU'
anything is possible with imagination
What about this?
It's pretty bland, but it doesn't actually say which product they're offering nor if it is an actual beacon company

IF you use the short stop for a primary, would it make more sense to have Dual short stops?

What type of drugs did the scout take to make his eyes look like that?

Also since you did base it on a stencil, and I'm assuming the one on your hat is one of those patches you sew on rather than a stencil you paint on... perhaps you could neat up the logo a little to make it look more like a patch rather than a painted on stencil?

If it is, I've never seen it before, if it isn't, nice work on making it look like it most definitely could be.
The TF2 wiki doesn't have this logo in their list of companies so I'm going to try and inform Smashman of it so he can update the page.
