I actually prefer the prefer the transparent version, the opaque just looks a bit wierd. Although some of the painted version as are a bit too transparant, namely the blacks and reds.
I think the nicest transparency level is on the white painted one, if you can get that on the default I think it would look pretty nice , thats just me though.
@Sparkwire: Is that a minigun, or are you just pleased to see me? :P
That is a BIG minigun though, if that isn't a contradicting term. Wouldn't want to see that being wielded by a heavy as he charges towards me :P
More changes to my minigun (which feels rather inadequate compared to Sparkwire's behemoth) and a jumbling in the colour scheme
Moved the valve around to the side of the drum and moved the cow catcher down to the drum and enlarged it, as well as adding a whistle to the top of the gun barrel. Colour wise, still playing with flats. I have given more of a lighter colouring (using the original minigun as a reference to how bright/dark colours should be) and made the screws on the darker parts lighter, made the screws on the lighter parts lighter as well, but they didn't seem to show up very well.

Hey fellas, I'm new here. I'm considering sending this to Valve however I'm unsure if I texture it any further it will conflict with his default hardhat. Also, I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to add a mic to the opposite earpiece from the one with the aerial/antenna thingy since that would make it look too much like Scout's default earpiece. On the other hand, there are so many hats in TF2 with near identical appearance so I'm kinda just thinking, "eh, why not"
I love all the heavy minigun ideas. I think it would be funny to have a tiny little baby gun for the Heavy. It could have a funny, high-pitched, moped sounding noise. They could add voice lines of the Heavy defending his tiny little baby gun. Hilarious.
That should have devastating dmg since its a much bigger gun. Bigger gun = bigger bullets? The ammo you pick up would gradually refill its ammo stock (not always completely tho, since its capacity would be so large.)
also, it should have 2000 bullet capacity instead of the Natascha which has only 200. It should be one of those special infinite ammo special weapons (like in old-school Doom where you would pick up an extremely rare bonus secret weapon hidden somewhere very secret that gave you the infinite ammo advantage)
don't cry imba, yet.
remember, its a really big gun. Very heavy, making the Heavy suffer a slowdown disadvantage...
which would give the snipers a field day with this guy, so i dunno how Valve would work around such a negative disadvantage for the Heavy. Maybe an armor/health bonus advantage with the gun too?
He should name it the "Compensator".
That name would both be funny, and would be a name that Valve could more easily draw inspiration from when giving it stats.
maybe call this MINIgun ALEXANDRA (in Russian is the same as Sasha just Sasha short name)
or IOSIV (Joseph) Vissarionovich (it's name of stalin) or even Vladimir Ilyich (name of Lenin)
I personally think the name "The Compensator" is pretty good and funny. If not, Jackablade's suggestion of the name Olga works too.
So a quick question. I was thinking of making a zombie pack for the Pyro for next Halloween. Here's the idea, and I'd just like to know if it'd be something Valve would be interested in taking it up if I complete it... I just need to learn all the tricks to modeling for TF2 first, but I think I can before next Halloween.
Head- zombie with a stitched mouth (to go along with the Pyro's mumbles)
Weapon- "The Zombie Avenger" (pun off of The Toxic Avenger I guess) Basically a flamethrower that instead shoots a cloud of noxious gas that deals damage over time to enemies. I'm thinking that the attack itself shouldn't deliver much damage but that the overtime damage from the gas should be greater than that of the normal flamethrower
Secondary Weapon- "The Plaguebearer" which acts like the Flare Gun but slows down enemies
I'm not sure what I should use as a melee weapon yet, but I'm thinking that whatever it is should slow down the Pyro when in use but return some health upon hitting an enemy
Yeah, Olga sounds good, problem is someone else has already taken it: http://www.gamebanana.com/skins/90092
Personally, I think you can get away with it as long as you aren't planning on realeasing it.
Hell, I dunno if it will cause any problems even you do realease it.
I just thought if you are thinking of taking Olga as a name, it was worth pointing it out.
If I was doing it, I'd call it something like the Bolshevik Behemoth or something like that. Thats just me though.
@SuPa: Pretty cool ideas. But the Pyro's Powerjack already heals you when you kill someone, and he also has 2 health modifying weapons: the Powerjack and the Back Scratcher. Maybe it could be a weapon that speeds him up when using it.
The pack's effect to the player could be that you take less damage to bullets but lose fire resistance, since everyone knows zombies are highly flammable. :poly121:
well here big russian girl name Illianora or Illianora Pavlovna here few girl russian name's :
Ekaterina (Catherine) (short name Katya)
Antonina (Tonya)

Belt looks good sparkwire. I think some black loops or even just a silver belt like that one would be good. Makes it more unique compared to Natascha's belt. What's with the barrels though? The thickness changes like 3 times throughout the entire thing. Did you base that off of a reference image? It looks very strange to me.
I think you can save some poly's by removing the damage on the ammo belt. I don't think it fits the heavys style anyway, he isnt one to let his weapon get damaged.
Here's another hat Im working on, trying to get it blend right with everything. Not sure what else i can do to make it look better.
@Sparkwire: I think its safe to say your dominating this thread at the moment ;P
Ouch though at the polycount though, it is a mighty sexy gun and it would be a shame if it had to be trimmed down
@Dr.cube: That hat would suit Pyro as well as Winnie the Pooh It looks fine as it is, though you could maybe add a bit more colour variation to each segment of the hive, and maybe a bit of detail such as cracks.
Anyway, tried my hand at TF2 texturing, its a lot harder than it seems :P
Did a basic metal colour, then went over it to make a paint-like texture, erasing it again to give it a faded look. I'm unsure how it looks, as this is the first time I've worked using someone else's art style

With completely opaque glasses he reminds me too much of that serial killer from Sin City
the feeding system is gonna be a bitch
I do think the default ones should be transparent, but I do hope the white painted ones will still look like Kevin's glasses.
its not even done, this was just a test compile for sizing.
>Rachel Maddow
that should at least be DOUBLE the ammo capacity, if not TRIPLE...
But it needs a cart.

Thanks for the feedback though, much obliged
I think it looked better with the old texture.

If you contribute that, name it either:
- Compensation
- Tiny
- The Clap

The Stalin name sounds decent tho. (Vissarionovich )
The Compensator, Tinygun and Tiny sounds silly.
Bolshevik Behemoth sounds pretty good.
I'm not so sure about Lenin's name, tho.
honestly, i'll give you my name suggestions:
Top of the list is: Doomsday.
other suggestions would be: Dreadnaught, Violator, Juggernaught, The Dictator.
but overall, I highly think Doomsday is perfectly fitting for it. Its a name that sends shivers and fear down everyone's spine at the mention of it.
Ekaterina (Catherine) (short name Katya)
Antonina (Tonya)
Angela
Victoria (Vika)
Elena (Lena)
Svetlana (Sveta) i think it's best name from this list
also,
Veronika
well yeah... good Russian name too just forget it
thickened the barrels and added a wip belt, i think it may be too thin though. i also might add these black loop things
BTW just out of interest whats the polycount?
Oh, and that face is priceless!
