Planning on adding the yellow neck kerchief thing also
Is that a Hardee hat? You forgot the pin. The brim is suppose to be held up on one side by a pin as part of the dress code. It looks great, other than that.

Haha apparently it is, I didn't know it was called a Hardee hat, but yea I was going more for the Vietnam-era revival of the hat. Specifically spoofing the one worn by Duvall in Apocalypse Now
Guys, need help. How do i fix this problem ? I know that after i use the symmetry tool in 3Ds max this happens with the UVW. I tried finding a way to fox it, but I failed. Maybe i need to uncheck something or do something else ? HELP
Jackablade: its overlaping. All those red spots are overlaps. The pic you see only shows half of the polys of my model. I need the second half to appear too.
Shadowplay, the new medic mask looks completely different from yours. The beak is structured differently, the goggles have a totally different shape. They're just not the same.
So guys...if anyone cares, my chalice is nearly done. I just need to rig it. Anyone know how the Mad Milk works who can help me? I want to jiggle bone the booze in the chalice. It's a separate mesh from the chalice itself. Do I use the skin mesh to rig the jiggle bone to the booze alone, or to all meshes of the chalice?
yea, I tried to find a liquid jigglebone tut too, but didn't see one.
I do like the details on the model, but I think you need to turn down the contrast, or kindof follow this image, here: http://www.teamfortress.com/contribute/images/tips_palette.gif

That should help. Good job so far!
Thanks. I'll see what making the symbols more of a reddish brown color does for it. As for the liquid, I guess the only way to find out is to contact the person responsible for the Mad Milk. The wiki doesn't say who submitted it, though. I might even have to request that Valve add the jiggle bones, or settle with not having any if Valve won't add them. I'd just be thrilled to even have my items in the game.

Nevermind...I found a page of the wiki that actually had the contributor's name on it.
Congrats to everyone that got in this round, I know you guys must be excited. I'm still a bit worried about the future of TF2 though.. seems like it's getting bogged down with items really fast. But we'll see
Seeing as decompiling any animations at this point crashes the decompiler I've put the guitar on hold and have started working on the hat that will compliment it.
At least with a hat I know I shouldn't have any problems getting it in game, I hope.....
Hey guys, I'm back with a new and improved spy switchblade!
With the help of the notorious (just kidding) Swizzle.
BOOM!

Hii-ya!
ok, and also, a detailed pic of the textures.
Ok did someone else post a plague doctor mask besides me? If not then they just took mine , cut the hat and lower jaw off and renamed it =(
i sent them mine about a month and a half ago
There has been bunch made ever since Assassins Creed 2 was released (17th of November 2009). People got reminded of the plague doctors and what kind of masks they wore. There has been about five of these masks made in the last year.
The one that got selected was only one that made you see medic's mouth thus not making his facial animations entirely useless.
Valve has run out of ideas for TF2 - a gamemode dedicated to melee and ancient weapons? seriously?
A lot of communities have been playing such medieval modes unofficially already. Valve just did as they do, took something from the community and made it official(awesome).
Hey does anyone know if the TF2 beta will be premiering upcoming item updates? It seems like getting those tested before release would be something the beta is useful for, but are they doing that? keeping it secret until the update drops is more exciting.

That's great! Goes well with the bottle animations, but do remember, demoman's arm shakes quite alot when he has the bottle out. Try to add particle effect of some of the liquid falling out.
And put "Made in Polycount/China" in the bottom for luls.
Still a little shell shocked... but holy crap my pack got in.
If you're wondering about the Buffalo Steak, the playtesters flagged that having a character in a Native American head dress getting high on peyote might be considered racist by some. Fair enough. Anyhows on the 3rd of Dec I got the shout from Valve that I had that weekend to make a replacement for the Peyote. The steak was the result, feels a little rushed so probably going to submit some improvements, maybe a normal map to give it some texture.
Thanks to everyone who gave ideas and creative input

Don't do anything to it. Honestly, it looks really nice!
Man, working on all these items is really helping me build my modeling skill.
Here's my progress on a demoman shield. Still needs a lot of texture work, but I'm really proud of what I've got so far. Calling it the Auld Alba Aegis.

That's perfect! Remember to add some burnmarks and you can submit it as "The Dragon Slayer" :poly136:

I don't know how to do particle effects. I only just started learning about particles in my last 3D class. Great idea, though. Maybe Valve will do it.
I agree with Cronotic, piercings would be just a bit overkill if you ask me.
Once again, i've put my projects on hold to work on another one. This time is a wrench, only this time I'm hoping to make something of it.
If theres' anything wrong with it, or any improvements modelwise, let me know. Texturewise, its just a projection map over a slight gradient ATM. It just thought it would look nicer than the checkerboard. There are some noticable clipping errors, espiacially on the 1st person view.
New hat i've done.
The spy is also known as "the man in the iron mask", nobody know who he is and how powerful he is. Next step is to do a watch and a knife. Have few ideas but can't work during winter's holydays :poly127:
Right, I got my cart unwrapped but for some reason when baking AO with Render to Texture Edge Padding won't work. Also regardless of what element I choose (CompleteMap, AO) it uses the material currently assigned to the model. It also doesn't use the background color from the baking dialog but the environment color. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? I also tried baking with TexTools but it fails to save the output. It bakes the whole thing (I think so as it takes some time) and then says it failed to create bitmap. I'd really appreciate some help, I didn't go this far to drop it when it's almost finished.
if i had to guess, i'd say either the nade launcher or the medic schtuff...
they didnt release a new nade launcher with the WAR! update and the medic was the first class to get an update. i had an idea that theyd just do the whole thing over again (least played class=next update). OR COULD ONE OF THE PACKS BE THE FABLED SUPRISE POLYCOUNT PACK?!?!
*sits down in thinking chair*
but what does a MEDIC, or a DEMO have to do with a new GAME MODE?

I was going to make it more intense, it's incredibly shiny in real life, it constantly looks like it's just been dipped in oil, so I'm trying to get that.
The strapped pillow rests against the arm. I figured since the Chargin' Targe doesn't have arm straps, mine didn't need them either. But the concave back caused clipping issues, so I made the pillow to fill the space.

You should have COWARD KILLING MACHINE written along the side of the blade, in a Pen writing style.
It looks really good, but would cause too much problems.

Mini update, I hate cloth folds
My medic currently has the face mask and the medieval helmet... you cant see a damn thing on his face.

I'm planning on making a spiked mohawk for the Scout at some point, if it hasn't already been done yet.
probably needs a few strips of tape to hold it down (see WG).
wouldn't mind this combo
NO, the piercings don't go with TF2 style. Looks perfect for me

*wears camera beard*
what now?
NO WAY.
Didn't think about it... Maybe we can imagine that the hat will be incompatible with beards.
The Scrub,
now you have to put SPIKES all around it.
Okay, lots of texturing progress on the Auld Alba Aegis. What do you think: Blood or no blood?
