I just watched the entirety of this thread and am stunned... it's hard not to fall in love with every single of your girl studies. If one thing I'd miss seeing more fully rendered paintings but that's like asking for a second cup of cream when you got a van full of icecream already!
wow man, you create truly amazing art and you're really funny, too! i was just loving each post, and was kinda skipping over the pesky word things, so i might have missed the answer to this: what's your art school? and where did u serve your mish? i wish my 2 year stint had given me magical artistic abilities, but alas... i'm totally subscribing to this thread.
Makkon you reminded me that i need to draw. A LOT MORE.
This. Cause... omg. Those life drawing studies are... magnificent. You make even the boring poses I normally zone out on at life drawing seesions seem awesome. Really amazing pencil line quality.
I've always been a fan of your work, but never stumbled upon your Sketchbook thread til now. Couldn't stop myself from looking through all 7 pages! Very inspiring. I'll be checking back again for sure
e-freak: I'd like to do more paintings, there's a few in this last update. Just wish I could get the hand of photoshop again.
moose; AimBiZ: I appreciate it, guys, thank you
HonkyPunch: Just a regular university, I'm enrolled at Utah Valley University currently.
Dan: Saw that earlier man, loved it! Too bad the link is broken it seems.
eazy: Thanks a ton, man! I'm currently going to Utah Valley University in Orem. I served my mission in Tulsa Oklahoma, spent most of it in MO and KS. Prep-days were like pure inspiration, real blessing for working hard. Any other day I tried to draw I had no such success.
Mezz: I'm super flattered, thank you!
illybang; onionhead_o; Zerreth; Screwonhed: Thank you guys, I appreciate it
Have some tunes first, I know... most of them are pony related. You'd be shocked to know that most of my daily inspiration is ponies. MAN I LOVE THAT SHOW.
But now I'm a little mixed. Art or music? OR BOTH?!
Hey Makkon, MOAR PONIEZ!
Your recent stuff (both visual and audible) has been pretty damn awesome man, truly inspirational to see someone pump out so much creative and well crafted stuff Keep it up!
Thanks, guys! Wow, this thread really got buried. I haven't scanned my sketch book in months! I don't think there's much to show from it, but here's some digital paintings
Skamberin: OMG I've had way too much pony lately. But thanks, man!
Awesome stuff bud, love the top one and the thumbs underneath of it. Gives me some good ideas to try out. Also diggin' the ninja fellow down below, pretty sure I recognize him from an earlier sketch (at least roughly), and that's always nice to see.
Loving all of it, ALL OF IT. Your music in particular is a very nice break from other things I listen too, a compendium of amazing talent.
Also you probably need to make your own pony now, unless you already have :P
and here I remember doing the worst crit and red line on the lombard character you modelled 6 or 7 years ago, man I have so much envy for the work you've put in since then.
Keep it up man, it's inspirational, and good luck animating
Makkon that last shot of yours just makes me want to play The Dig again. Some real nice work there and on the others. There's a sharpness to your environments without overdetailing them -- keep that shit up and your enviros will start looking like Whit Brachna's.
Naugat: I remember that too, and it was appreciated though. Thanks man!
wake: Thank you, Wake! I'm hoping to delve more into environment art in the next few months.
here's some traditional stuff, I used a Brushpen with shades of prismacolor art markers. I get a lot of mileage shading with 20%/50%/80% cool grey, but I need more colors.
Hahah, last characters are super cool! Very dynamic and charismatic, i should learn from them.
And i still remember visiting your livestream when you drew that Trex.
You guys blew my mind(or was my brain fucked a bit?) with your thoughts around that picture, LOL
Today, when I logged into polycount, it said "welcome makkon!" because of that polycount bug thing. And I thought "Why am I not Makkon? I wish I was Makkon." And it got me thinking that you've put so much time and effort into learning, and that's why I "wasn't makkon" so, uh. idk where that was going.
So uh, thanks for drawing! And being inspiring even when you don't try.
This work is amazing and a real inspiration! No doubt someone will hire you as a character concept artist. You're 2D work is amazing and I cannot even bring myself to give any crit.
One thing I will say though: You're clearly fluent within sketching out ideas and then adding colour and making it eye candy. But have you tried making a beautiful, hi-res, sharp render that says "this is me and what I can do". So then once you've finished that piece. You have it as an opening for your showreel, then literally dump all of the other beautiful colour renders you've done and then finish off with your very best sketches and anatomical references.
Food for thought . But yeah, seriously in love with your work. I've got some books to recommend but you;ve probably read them already :P, gimme a pm just in case. once again..... LOVE YOUR WORK!!!!
Ye, I agree with Cybersam. I see it frequently here that people are able to do awesome sketches but barely polish something. It really is a shame as you are able to. Just sit down and take a piece one step further, you have great stuff here. You can clearly see your progress!

I've been trying to do a painting a night the past week. It's been bad for my sleep, but I'm enjoying it a lot.
and of course my class work/game project! Vote for our project here: http://saltvalleytally.com/campaign/detail/272
you never cease to amaze and inspire me
