In fairness, I've heard more people say Cape O than Cap O, but I'm pretty sure it originates from the Italian (as most musical terms do) and I'm pretty sure Italians pronounce it as Cap O, as far as I know the sound 'Cay' doesn't exist in the Italian dialect at all.
I could be wrong... gonna Google
EDIT: Yep, comes from the Italian for Capo Tasto which means 'Head Tie (Fret)'.
Tomaytoes aside... a damn cool invention, thanks for posting Muzz.
i's been in 2 shows with the holland orchestra, rehearsals, radio show and guitar competition, it was really cool to be with vai that whole week
best week of my life
Here's a vid from the band I played in a while back - probably not to everyone's taste I'm sure. I'm the goof playing the Diplomat Bass The hair isn't that long anymore! http://youtu.be/SSNy1zTDZxo
Have to say, I'm happiest playing my Strat through some tubes with my dirty old Ibanez tube screamer. SRV fan? Heck yeah.
I love to play guitar, both electric and acoustic.
I've been playing more acoustic than electric.
I've been playing for 3 years or so, but I haven't really been practicing all that much.
Haven't change the strings in a good couple of months. :poly122:
Well bust out your camera and let's f'kin hear it then!
Lovely looking guitar though, how is it to play? I love the sound of SG's but always find my womanly hands struggle with the wide/flat neck.
Yeah ok just have to wait till a time when it isnt 8 am with people sleeping in my house .
As far as playability, I'm used to playing a steel string with the hardest strings I could find, just so could train my speed and strength of my hand as i joined a band recently but needed to level up fucking fast to be able to play with them (I've only been playing guitar for 6 months with serious intent, and ukulele for a year), so the wide neck is a godsend for me.
Hey guys.. I think this can be posted here! I write songs and lyrics and play guitar/bass/toypiano/otherbullshitinstruments in a 10 piece gypsy/hardcore/ska band. Our 4th album is available for free to download! You guys should pick it up if you like it! http://grimluck.bandcamp.com/album/alexandra-volume-2-the-dread
So I haven't really been playing much in the last few years, but I'm looking to get back into it. Does anyone have any experience with recording their own stuff on their PC? If so, any advice, or input on what equipment I would need to get started with that?

It's a great little recording toy. The amp simulations are actually quite impressive, I had a lot of fun just running down the band/guitarist specific presets and trying to see how many I could play a song for.
Pairing that with Adobe Audition (or way back when, cool edit pro) has been my favorite recording method. Way more convenient than sitting my amp down next to my computer and going line in through that (especially when you're in an apartment and cant mic it for volume reasons anyway).
I also hadn't been playing much for the last few years (zero free time), but have been trying to get the rust off my fingers for a black metal halloween show I was invited to play for. The muscle memory comes back easy for the left hand...but man my right arm has been on fire trying to keep up with all the tremolo picking.
Another guitar player turned to 3D (and programming) here...crappy pic of my little friends.
Fender Acoustic Bass, Fender Strat Tex-Mex, Applause Acoustic, and my Aria 12 string (currently with only 6 strings! lol) I've played in a few garage bands as a kid, playing parties, school dances etc... now I mostly just piss my neighbors off.

Oh nice, I'll have to look into that. I used to go to my local guitar shop and play around with all the Line 6 amps. The presets and effects are fantastic. Thanks for the input
i tend to record with just a little fender blues jr with a sm57 on it, and a DI and send both straight into pro tools, and sometimes will use amp farm with the di input.
works good for getting a nice clean sounds for my semi-hollow, and for most other stuff i got a AC-30 that i will also mic with a sm57, and jsut send straight threw my pre-amps to pro-tools.
really like the blues jr for recording since it is such a small amp, but still has great tone, isnt like my AC-30 where the power-amp section needs to be cranked to get the tone i want from the tubes.

Best.Amp.Ever.
Got one about 3 years ago and sold all my other amps (including a 100 Watt JCM head and a 60's 4x12!).
That little thing sings man, and it can get loud too. Add a Tubescreamer and you've got such a versatile little package.
I couldn't believe how amazing it was when I first turned it on, and those tubes were hot. I honestly can't see me ever wanting another amp either for recording or live.
As you say, if you need to record it or use it live, just mic it up and you're good.

ya when i got this i still kept my vox ac-30 but i did end up selling the fender reverb since this this sounds just as good and is way more versatile. For in the studio it is the best amp ever in my opinion and it is still good for playing small venues.
with all these nice tube amps (bluse jr, reverb, ac-30) you can get great tone if you take the gain down real low than try to crank and overload the power-amp section, gets really warm crunch to it and it reacts better to the dynamics of your playing while still distorting a bit.
and for recording a sm7 or sm57 about a inch to the side of the cone sounds really great with the blues jr.
I use a triple XXX (yeah I know, redundant name) from Peavey. 120 watts RMS on a half-stack. It makes me happy. But what I really want to mention, is Rocksmith. Has anyone looked into this game yet? It's out Oct 18th and I'm excited about it. I've been waiting for a "Guitar Hero" style game that plays with a real guitar and this apparently does the job.
btw my whammy pedel is fcked up, when i plug it all leds turn on and stay
there no sound
anyone know what could be the problem?
Lonewolf, that is some sick playing, congrats!
Anyway, I've been recording some stuff of my own lately, using the Rig Kontrol 3 interface, ReValver, Guitar Rig and Amplitube for guitar and bass (I've been recording with my guitar plugged into Amplitube's Ampeg amps, been meaning to get myself a real bass) and EZDrummer for the drums. Nothing fancy, I'm far from being any sort of virtuoso, but it comes from the heart.
Oh and I'm playing an Ibanze ARZ-400 but I'm not really fond of the EMG HZ pickups on it, the output is surprisingly low - at least for what expected from EMGs - and it sounds a bit compressed and dull. I'm into playing slower, more melodic stuff similar to some of Buckethead's material (my favorite guitarrist btw) and I read he uses a pair of Tone Zone and Air Norton pickups by DiMarzio, supposedly they're more warm sounding. Has anyone played either of them? I'd like to hear some opinions before making the switch.
Just got my Line 6 POD Studio and some fresh strings in the mail today. Time to be a musician again.
what time to be a musician "Again".
Thought it was once your a musician you are 1 for ever, i cant go a day with out having to pick a instrument, up and have been that way since i was 13.

I wonder if it would work on my ukulele as well seeing as the pads are replaceable and the strap is adjustable...

You should've got his autograph tattooed though before you washed it off :P
Decided to film myself, never done that before... what an uncomfortable experience!
So here's me playing Steve Vai - Die to Live. I'm not much of a shredder so I picked one of his erm simpler tracks, a couple of mistakes but oh well!
Using an Ibanez 360 and a Fender Blues Junior... and Amplitube for iPad.

is that the natural wood? or is it stained for that effect?
I would have though that a ply wood guitar would have no resonance, but this god damn sings and sounds so sweet to the ear.
