Hi Guys,
Last month my team found out about the Dream Build Play contest Microsoft hosts for the XNA community. We decided to make a fun little sidescroller entry called "Majestic -12". It's basically a 3d sidescroller. Unfortunately, we only had about a month, so we could not get the polish way up, but we do plan to keep working on it and adding more levels.
anyway, I hope you like it. Weve really enjoyed working on it.
The team consisted of 2 coders, 1 artist, 1 designer.

In upcoming levels that you have more time to work on, it would be nice to see some platforms and stuff instead of just a flat road.
Congrats all in the team for getting it done for deadline!
good luck!
Only crits on the game have to do w/ the art - in particular, the FX don't quite fit the aesthetic. Something less real would work well (mainly the fire that looks so out of place).
Best of luck!
The action seems a bit slow though, like if the whole thing was sped up a little bit, I think the pace would be more appropriate. Still, cool characters and a fairly polished final product!
As the artist it seems you had ton of content to put up in relativly short time - well done !
But.. photoshop filter... NOOOOOO!
My only grip is maybe with the camera. The player model should be always positioned on the left portion of the screen so he can see ahead more easily:
Example:
Click on the image to see a rotation Video.
Finished the model, 1600 tris so far.
Yeah, variations are all possible, i textured the model for that purpose using layers, i can easily add/remove different colors.
The thing is that the model was textured to fit another concept, this crab is very small, and vibrant colors could attrack too much attention.
Anyways, i will try some variations
The concept, and one of the models...
More to come
P442: I appreciate that very much, we'll be posting some of his buddies soon enough.
Here is a bit of progress on our Aqua dude:
Any reccomendations would be nice, with software versions and plugin versions you used listed.
Great job guys. Excellent work as always IB!
I think the "Aqua dude" model looks too happy/cute compared with the concept though.
Butt_Sahib: Thanks.
Corv: I appreciate it, I think Multivaders is a killer project, and I can't wait to see it released. Good luck with it.
Ryan/Scoob: thanks man More coming soon.
some original concepts here, the mechshark looked cool
the only thing i have to say is that the environments are quite flat, and are sorta not staging the characters in a very flattering way. you gotta light that shit.
I would add vert lighting to the environments to add some cheap depth. then maybe blurr out the background a bit? i dunno what kind of post effects you have.. just some ideas.
seriously, you could take a masterpiece and light it poorly in a flat environment and turn it into a piece of shit. watchoutbaby!
Steve "Shadows" did the dolphin model/texture several years back for an older project, so I re-used it here when making the "Neo Neo Fin"; I guess I named it that to tip my hat, If you guys remember the Neo Fin model from Ian Waugh.
Is that diffuse only on the dolphin skin? It looks very convincing.
