Yeah, think its a good time to post my own sketchbook! Just to post some of my better works, will add scribbles and stuff what I do over week from time to time.

whipSwitch: Yeah, that is a problem I want to face in future projects. My compositions are mostly simple. Spot on... really spot on. Really good compositions are not spot on. They lead your view through the picture. Had to learn this for myself. For example in my last piece theres so much space above the main point lost. Yeah, thanks, will remember that next time and give even more time on planning.

For the first few pictures I didnt use any references, but I found out when you want it good, you have to use references. But not copy, just understand and learn from it. For the quarry I used several pictures I made while training with friends in it. I had plenty of fotos, but I didn't quite use many. Looked for some stone shapes, value hierarchy and stuff. Or what kind of flowers grow there, what types of shrubs. How are the stones on the ground shaped. Those kinds of things are really hard to imagine, since you never really focus on such things.
If you rethink what types of shrubs and stuff grow on a shore of a river you will notice you have no idea! Thats why you should go out and draw and/or use good references. Best is when your own plein air studies are your references.
You should also not think that your wacom will make you a better artist. Learn to draw! It is important to be able to draw properly, painting will come on its own. It is important to know how things look like and how to draw them.

So, an update on the Frame. Got it baked now, Lowpoly is around 1100polys. Bit much, but wanted it not tooo low. It's not an asset, its just a Frame
Diffus not even close to final. Its just 2 colors and an ambient occlusion bake. No Specmap. Will do that tomorrow.
Polycount is 1104 faces.

I like any kind of portals (as long as they look cool). Should redo the gate, perhaps I'll find some time for it. Most fun in it was painting the foliage as you certainly hardly noticed ^^

Here is one from today, had time and motivation this weekend. It's an additional piece from a private project I am working on here and there when theres time. The image 'The The Sacrifice' is also part of it.
Its not finished, its more like work in progress. Or I will completely redo it, dont know. Na, wont to that, too lazy! I feel like I could implement the gate Razvan talked about into this world... perhaps... somehow... Ideas running through my brain, weird words... ^^
