Yeah I think Microsoft came out on top this year. It was just way more interesting then what sony had to offer...for me. I don't care about the PSP really, and the only game that really caught my attention was Uncharted2. Also Nascar is boring as hell I will not pick up GT, Forza for me thanks :)

Uncharted 2 is about the only PS3 game i'm gonna pick up this fall. The Rockstar game Agency peeked some interests and MAG looks interesting but after the crazy 64 player fests in BF2 I think 256 would just be stupid and full of griefers....

Don't give a flying fuck about any damn Final Fantasy. God of War 3 is meh to me. I'm a forza fan. Motion controls...blah...

Home is lame sauce. No point to it what so ever. Announce something like the voice chat / party system live has. Make the playstation network comparable to the live service. It is miles behind what microsoft offers right now.

I was hoping for more and didn't see it. Microsoft had more things that I was interested in.

God of War looks awesome and a dark, mythological beatfest. GT5 has Nascar and Rally licenses, which is great. Hopefully some damage will be added. The new SoTC is looking like a studio Ghibli production, which is nice. I think MAG looks pretty cool, I still think games like that should be played on a PC though, and I'm surprised no one has done it for the PC. MGS on the psp might make me buy one.

They revealed a Nintendo DS port with no graphic changes, a sequel to an awesome game, and a really badly textured Metroid third person rip off... Those are the best you can say? I mean, did you forget the laughable Wii Sports/Fits/Shits bollocks? What about that god awful pulse monitor thing...?

Compared to MS & Sony, Nintendo dropped the ball... BADLY.

I think where Nintendo is failing (which I suppose is in the eye of the beholder considering how much money they're pulling in) is the fact they don't seem to give the fans what they want. I don't see why they can't have their crazy wii fit stuff and pulse monitoring thingy and still be able to deliver products that would resonate with the hardcore gamer fans. The Mario Galaxy game looks great, and the Metroid one...well I'll hold off judgment. But there are so many other franchises and games that they COULD be making that would please the people that have stuck with them since they were kids.

nintendo dosent care about fans, because thats not how they make money... regardless of what you thought of their conference they will sell a bajillion units of what ever they make.. wii still sells the pants off 360 and its actually MORE expensive than the arcade version.. nothing is going to change that.. i mean last years conference was total lameness and it did nothing to impact their sales..

Exactly, theres no need for them to impress at E3 or to anyone other than the mainstream casual gaming market that they have by the balls. I just wonder how long they can continue that.

    Oh boy, Odium.

There were improvements made to the graphics, Watch it again and pay attention to the characters. They're not going to port a DS resolution title to 480p. As well, pretty well everything I saw there, including the enemies, were not in the New Super Mario Bros. for DS. It all looks pretty damn new, including the power-ups.

It's not a Metroid ripoff when it is Metroid.

Wii sports is fun when its @ a house party and people are drunk bowling. Wii fit.. meh, my girl likes it. That's cool.

    Oh boy, E3.

Assassin's Creed looks great. So much so I am going to go buy the original after work and play through it, again.

Splintercell.. awesome. I hope the MP focus's on the feeling Chaos Theory gave. I'm willing to bet the Splintercell's seen in the trailer will be playable. (They look awesome to boot).

    Mario Galaxy 2, badass.

DJ Hero made me lol. I'll likely try it out, but still.. those games make me giggle. :P

L4D 2 seems like its by another team thats not Valve. As if they've got another company doing it under the Valve moniker. It's the characters that throw me off, they aren't on par, IMO, with those in the original. If its another $50 title, thats cool. I'll buy it. I'm surprised by how much 'hate' there is out there for a company putting out a sequel so soon. TF2 has tainted the public's perception of what is an acceptable way for Valve to release new content. 'Make it free DLC like you did with TF2, assholes!'. If this were another studio releasing the sequel to their one major IP (without other IP's out there by them) I am sure they'd be praised, not lynched.

True but they have a very low software attachment rate; hardly any 3rd party developers are making games for it as opposed to 360, which has the highest 3rd party attachment rate of all 3 consoles. MS makes tons on that. So unit sales are one thing, software attachment is another. Sony is last in both areas.

thats not really true, nintendo sells more 3rd party titles than any other system, attach rate can only be a factor if there are exactly the same number of consoles sold for each..

Yeah I think the character designs are up to the same standard as the first game, however they do seem to have hit the nail on the head in regards to game play improvements. Subtle additions and changes in Ai behaviors, modifying end game sequences to prevent players camping in corners etc
Worth it for the game play improvements alone I think.

I really feel like they should have called it mEh3 this year. I wasn't super impressed with anything.

Sony's Mod Racer Pro thing looks neat. But then so did Little Big Penis when I first saw it. I played it for 3 hours and got uber bored. If they charge me $60 for Mod Racer Pro or as it's called on the streets Excitebike 3d I'm gonna get stabby I think. Uncharteder looks super awesome though. It's like Zbrush environments: the game. I love it. PSPgo! seems cool, not certain it's comfortable though. I really don't like paying $250 for it either.

Nintendo's ummm...New New Super Mario Bros looked ok. Not really my thing. Super Mario Galaxier looks fun too. I need to beat the last one still though. Maybe this will motivate me. Ladies Murder Club. Really? Really? I'm sure there's a market for that, blah, blah. I think they should have pimped it on Oprah or Ellen first not E3. Seems like the wrong crowd.

Microsoft's camera thing I agree with everyone else. HAHAHAHAHA. New Halo and Newer Halo will sell like hotcakes I'm sure. Last time on Alan Wake was pretty lame. I really don't like the tv show set up. But maybe it'll turn out great. I hope it will cause that game sounded neat 4 years ago. Is Remedy the European 3D Realms?

AssAssIn Creed 2 (sounds like a bad porno), Brutal Legend, Gran Turismo PSP, and a few others sound pretty fun I have to say.

I'm sure some of the stuff I'm hating on will turn out great. I'm pretty sure some of it won't. Most projects come together right towards the end so e3 for a November game or 2010 game is pretty far away. The fact that everyone is jumping on the 'jump up and act like douche' camera/wand/remote game seems super typical. Copy whatever is in the lead. I was hoping to be blown away a little more honestly by some surprises.

Arsh where's my new Ratchet info already? I'm dying to check it out tomorrow at the show.

god of war 3 was pretty dope looking, more of the same for sure but when the 1st 2 titles are phenominal whos gonna complain.

the other games of show for me would be assasins creed 2, the gameplay demo was pretty cool, as well as splinter cell for being a nice suprise and looks really fun.

all the motion control stuff was kinda meh to me, the sony camera light stick thing tecg demo felt super weak and rushed. honestly i just wanna sit on my ass and click buttons, not waggle the fuck around.

She's combining nintendo games with third parties. Wii sells more bundled software than anything. Also this was at the bottom of that 2nd link.

UPDATE: Having read our story, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter decided to give us his take in an email: "Year-to-date (which I think is more relevant than lifetime), third parties have sold 13.4 million units of software for the Wii and 16.5 million units for the 360. That's NPD, and U.S. only. My guess is that the numbers are much closer to the same if we include Europe, and much higher for Wii if we go worldwide."

Whats the deal with modnation racers? Reminds me of a more quirky Trackmania?

I dont own any of the consoles but i think sony looks like it has some interesting titles coming to it at last... now if my dad buys one i wont think its a complete waste of money.

As nice as the technology is behind all this motion sensitive stuff it still feels like a novelty, ive been happily using a keyboard and mouse for years and they dont get in the way of immersion or enjoyment at all. Its going to be awesome to see a game that really uses this tech in a nonparty game kind of way, maybe Milo or something akin to that - only with more game?

I feel even the Nintendo showing outdid the MS one...need to re-buy a Wii for Galaxy 2 now. Wish we saw a Wii Zelda though :( The Metroid also looks OK. The New Super Mario Brothers retains the same simple art direction from the DS version, but obviously much better graphics. I prefer the single player experience, but for people who play with friends a lot, I can see this being a must buy.

As for the MS showing...I already knew I was going to re-buy an xbox for ODST...but the game just looks like a skin-pack now. When they originally announced it, they made it sound like you were far weaker so even a jackal would be a major challenge and a taking on a brute would be out of the question. Pity, it sounded like they were really going to mix up the gameplay.

What else did we see from MS? I can't think of anything good.

As for Sony, I don't even need to say. :P Stole the show (I'm actually surprised at this) MGS on the PSP and the new Eyetoy thingy were definitely highlights. Dissapointed at The Last Guardians' creature's new look, but the enviroments now look incredible. Can't wait. Never a big Uncharted fan, but 2 looks good.

All in all, I am wondering how the hell I am going to afford all these consoles/games in the coming months. :D

hmm... Alan Wake, Natal, MGS Rising, facebook, twitter, expanded netflix support, streaming video from MS...

I thought Microsoft did way better than Sony. Massive Action game looks really promising (but playing it on PSN does not).

Natal I just find exciting. I have no idea if it is going to be fun or not, but what they showed looks really cool. Either way, it is way more exciting than PSPGo.

The Sony guy listed "play lists" as if that was some kind of HUGE technological breakthrough. How pathetic is that? Why would I even bother DLing movies to a PSP when I have an ipod?

I've been seriously disapointed by my ps3. Playing online is so much trouble it's not even worth it. MS already owned that neck of the woods, and are pushing it even more and more every year. With PSN the only appeal is that it is free. And this conference confirmed to me that it's just going to stay that way.

Ironically, uncharted 2 was one of the coolest demos I saw. Day one purchase no doubt.

Did we see MGS Rising? I haven't seen any in-game stuff or even cinematics yet.And honestly who cares about having facebook and twitter on your XBox? Those aren't video games! Honestly...it must have been a ridiculously dry year for XBox if that is what they are showing at E3. There's not a person on this earth who could hear someone say 'WOOT Mario Galaxy 2' and respond 'Oh yeah? Well we have facebook and twitter on XBox now!'

'Bout time though...at the moment the 360 has a bigger library of great games than the wii and ps3 probably has together...
  • dolemite
hahahaha. About the only thing I do with facebook is pause my game, go to my PC and post something. JUST SAYING it would be cool to have that integrated into xbox so I can attach a screenshot.

It's just one little thing, but where do you go when you already have the best online support? I'd like to see PSN make one or two small improvements so that I don't have to rely on my phone to arrange online matches.

holy crap its taken such a monumental turn for the worse.

90% of the games were only displayed behind closed doors to the media. From what I can tell you guys at home got to see most of the GOOD games. Tons of kiosks of games ALREADY out.

(shrug) I'm still a little unclear on the vitriol over the Nintendo conference. By whose standards did Nintendo drop the ball? If you are a "casual" gamer who is into things like Wii Sports and Wii Fit, than Nintendos conference was likely quite satisfying. If you are an old-school Nintendo fan, they trotted out a 2D Mario game, a 3D Mario game, and a Metroid game that would have 2D and 3D gameplay. When combined with the recent release of the critically acclaimed Punch-Out, I can't imagine how any traditional Nintendo fan would be displeased with this showing. If you are the kind of fan who is looking for more gritty, realistic experinces from a Nintendo console, then you have never really been the target market. Get over it.

A lot of people are touting the Sony conference as the big winner. But at the same time, I've been hearing a lot of hate over the PSP Go. And of course, there was no news of a PS3 price drop, or a new PS3 redesign or bundle. The showing of games was plentiful, but there really weren't that many surprises. The biggest surprise for me was hearing that Final Fantasy XIV would be another MMO, and would be coming to the PS3. Although an XBox 360 port would probably be possible, I would expect SquareEnix to take their sweet time. The PS3 has the advantage of a default hard drive, and mouse/keyboard support. It is the most likely console to start supporting MMOs. Honestly, I was a little surprised that they didn't announce a PS3 port of FreeRealms. Isn't that game published by Sony? It seems like such a no-brainer.

Team Ninja is known for working on the Dead or Alive series, and the Ninja Gaiden series. With the Ninja Gaiden series, they have established a name for themselves in the 3rd-person action genre. The new Metroid game is being given to the portion of Team Ninja that has been working on the Ninja Gaiden Sigma ports. Nintendo is also having their team that usually collaborates on Metroid titles helping out on this one. All news up to this point has been very positive.
