Yeah some zbrushcentral users do seem to come across as immature morons in that thread all right...surely NDA's don't take much higher brain function to comprehend. And the artist in question also comes across as childish...why is he even posting it if there is any doubt? If he needs a new job, can't he discreetly show potential employers his work? Or maybe he doesn't know how to attach images to emails. I love how he also provided a blog link in case zbcentral had the good sense to pull the images.
Hi Everyone. I'm sorry to burst your collective bubble...and I'm quite surprised to have caused such an uproar.
There is no conspiracy. I don't work for 3D Realms. I'm a just the "bored nerd" who happened to read about 3D Realms closing shop and decided on the spot to register the URL (savedukenukem.com) to see if I could drum up some interest in saving the franchise. Honestly I had no real plan except:
1) register URL 2) Eventually build out some forums and news content 3) Collect donations 4) Send donated money to 3D Realms employees or purchase the IP for the games.
I thought I'd have a few weeks to start working on the site but, out of curiosity, I decided to look at google analytics for my "coming soon" page this afternoon (btw, someone was right - it's Tekton Pro, not Comic Sans...but doesn't make the site any prettier). I was quite shocked to see 9000 people had visited the page today! I found that half of that traffic came from Reddit and, well, here I am.
It's a bit humorous to see all the detective work that has gone on to figure out this great mystery that I never intended - and it's also scary to see all the info people were able to drum up about me in such a short time. Guess next time I'll be registering domains anonymously.
By the way, it looks like someone on here is saying he is me...he's not. Since I'm sure everyone will doubt my identity, feel free to ask me to post something to the site and I'll do it as soon as I see the request.
I'm sure this post will drum up even more controversy. For that, I'm sorry to have wasted all your time.

Diakatana maybe? John Romero miserable failure of an experiment. You can't go wrong much worse then that did...
"art is law!"
"So that's why it runs in software mode only?"
"I'm the greatest! I can cram 3 games worth of content into 7mo"
"So that's why it sucks..."
what's it got to do with 3d realms??
edit: i know all about daikatana of course, i just figured that game was made by ion storm and published by eidos so.. maybe theres another game that sounds the same

absolutely fuck all. but i felt that since we're dicking all over shitty devs, might as well do it without prejudice.
For a game that was in development for so very long, 12 million seems like a surprisingly small investment. Certainly not enough to keep the studio running for all of those years.
Take two,
"I have been paying this amazing artist a hundred bucks a month for a few years for a new painting. He kept telling me it would be done soon but i never saw him painting... Yesterday he told me that he wasn't going to finish it. When I asked for my money back and he just laughed at me... I don't get it, why wont he pay me back?"

AFAIK a lot of the development was self-funded by 3dr.
anyways, shame, but I'm with the trend, of "how did they survive for so long without actually doing a thing" and closing when they are ordered to actually finish the game ...wtf...
anyways, sucks for the people that worked on that, it's already annoying to put energy for like a year on something that doesn't get released, but 13... (even 3 or 5) best of luck to them all
I hope the judge in the new case is a woman. That way someone from 3DR will offer them a wad of bills and tell her to shake it. Should make for a good clip to post on every board on the net.
Technically he may have made us all his bitch by proxy Vahl as without him we almost certainly wouldn’t have Deus Ex (and to a lesser extent Anachronox) arguably the best game ever made.
What if all this was just some overly elaborate, promotional campaign, and in fact Duke Nukem is finished and ready to hit shelves, and they're just getting everyone reved up for the big release? Huh? How bout that?

sounds like it to me. Especially after everyone posted videos and images on there portfolios, like a sad but effective ad campaign
Maybe they're all in on it too. And then when the moment comes they shall all shout "Surprise!". And then there will likely be cake and finger sandwiches.
In that article at IGN, it irks me that they're listed as "the developer behind Duke Nukem and Max Payne," when that simply isn't true. 3DRealms.com seems to be down right now, but I swear, before it was down, at http://www.3drealms.com/max/ - at the bottom - it said, in the FAQ, "So who is making the game, anyway?" and it basically said, in very plain words, that 3DRealms was not doing any of the development whatsoever, that it was all Remedy Entertainment.

A guy speculating that Microsoft might buy out Realms based on the fact that DN3D is on XBox Live. That's a pretty major conclusion to jump to.

I used that line on my wife last night... it didn't have the desired effect
I only played Time to Kill on Playstation 1 a long time ago and it wasn't very good.
Everyone's fond memories comes from Duke Nukem 3D. That's pretty much where his personality was fleshed out into a parody of Ash from Evil Dead.
Hmm could this be a massive PR stunt? Savedukenukem.com was registered on the very same day 3DR was closed. Conspiracy maybe?
quoted from the comments
how did anybody not close them down sooner? i mean, they haven't had a REAL hit since max payne. prey was a flop, daikatona was...
end of the day, if they'd actually used their "talented team" as they keep being called, properly, they wouldn be closed.
end of.
