Looks sick man, I like how you sharpened the edges on the swirls in the shoulder pads, it really makes them pop. The boots are looking pretty sexy but im not a fan of the details you added to the calf area. They dont flow at all, I think something with swirls or bulbus pertrusions would help keep the continuity of the design intact from top to bottom. Maybe have some kind of swirl on each side and then small barb like things coming off the back, the barbs could act like weapons if she were to kick someone in the face and it would add to the bug like nature of the design. These barbs are what im refering to. http://biology.unm.edu/ccouncil/Biology_203/Images/Protostomes/grasshopper.gif

nrek ~ Wow thanks you, and yes now that i just woke up from a very late night of modeling i realize i HATE a few of the ideas i dropped in the calves being the top offender. I will rework them today and see what i come up with..

Thanks for the crit good eye. : )

Hey Goon, I think this is coming along great, as I am really liking alot of the forms you have going on. If I were to suggest anything, I might say that the lower half of her feels off balance. Maybe making some sort of kneepads that echo some of the design from the shoulder pads, to tie in better. Or have a long boot that bulks up the knee at the top with that design? Just some thoughts, and I will be checking this out from time to time:)

Hey Brett, thank you for that, it means a lot.

and yes I totally 100% agree the lower half is killing me right now, I've done about 5 or so paint overs with no real wow factor coming through....

so in the mean time I'm working up the saddle bags on the hips to keep moving... ( momentum is every thing ) so hopefully i can get a spark of inspiration as I'm doing that ( no pun intended ).

oh and thank you to Jeremy for the reference folders you sent for the bags !!
    big, big help dude.

Yo Reo! I think this is the first time I have ever seen a character model from you, and I have to say man, You've got some serious skills :)

I am really enjoying what you have done with the horns and armor of course! Again good stuff so far man, cant wait to see how you balance that big arm and hips with the rest of the body. Cheers. - Anwar

    very cool conception, love it!
    one crit:
she has some really big hand, but she can't even lift up that hammer, because of weak woman body. maybe you can play with her hand? add some magic stuff or sharp claws.
    anyway, good job!

~ When i grow up i want to be just like you <3

maybe sort out the left arm though. the wrist usually rests perfectly in line with the groin, but yours looks a little high?

Hey Goon, the addtion to the midsection ( bags and such) helped alot in the design. I personally was digging the helmet before last ( the one where there was a more smooth surface ) as now my eye can't see anything but the eyes and bubbles on the arm. Losing the face of your character, which looks like a bueatifull badass woman that took down a huge insect to use as headgear. This is just some feedback, and I am probably wrong in this, just really liked some of the smooth forms to emphasize the other detailed detail:)...if that makes sense. Maybe try and finish out the lower half to see how it looks in whole, before adding those final touches. Love this entry, and I am looking forward to the next installment.

Some great work so far, but I agree that you are running the risk of over-detailing the carapace. I think it's okay to have a few trace details there, but the character reads better with a smoother carapace.
