this guy is coming along so well!! It's really exciting to see his progress! The only thing that pops to me is the back of his hind legs. The sharp thin tendon feels a little awkward. Hope you do get to print this guy!
worked on the hind legs some more -- better? still need to spend another day or two on the worm sharpening it up and adding some cool details. After that it's all harness and horns. Should meet my weekend deadline for sure.
@odin chuvak: thank you, hope you like the worm @funshark: ty ty @blackNull: thanks man, means a lot -- big fan of your work! @BC3D: thank you for the crit and kind words @woogity: thank you! your thread is coming along quite nice as well
This is looking great. Only crit right now would be the legs. They look like stumps, I think there should be more muscle definition and shape. Take a look at the lower half of a dog's leg and make it fat to fit the shape of your legs. Think it would make the design a little more interesting.
Oh yeah! I like the drip on the ground
and the elephant like skin on the beast.
You are almost done with the sculpt.
Can't wait to see colour (and dirt?) on it.
OK, I think it's done ... time for a low-poly-athon. I'm going to sneak some extra normal map goodness once it has UVs. I wish I had more time to sculpt, but I think it's at a decent place.
@woogity: thank you! hopefully the texture/spec brings some of that out. @waz: I stuck with stumps, but i do with they were more anatomical. If I had a little more time I would have re-worked them. Thanks for the crit! @konstruct: ty ty @mechadus: I think I might add some slime around the worm depending on how much UV space it takes up. thanks! @garagarape: oh yes, lots of dirt. I can't believe how fast you rocked yours! @spark: thanks! will do -- big fan of your work @kipiripi, jeff MD, crux, exitrockstar: thank you for the kind words!
That's pretty fucking awesome! I would like to see some more iteration on the droool though... you know some stringy snott shit, and viscous bubbly drool know what I'm sayin?
love the drool/stuff coming out the mouth, its so fitting :P. Lot of skin detail and texture on this guy, even without specific materials you can tell quite clearly what everything is. Great work, cant wait for the texture.
OK, here's my mesh. 10K on the dot ... I had to get real creative on some parts to fit it all in there. The two on the left show my planned UV layout -- grey will be mirrored and white is unique. The two in the center are my mesh with a rough bake on some auto-UVs (ick!). The two on the right are the same mesh in Maya's viewport with shadows activated and a few lights.
needless to say it will look a hell of a lot better with some real UV's and a clean map. UV's are tomorrow night, and the clean map is planned for the day after.
Thank you all so much for the kind words and support!
10k exact! haha. Well done, you made it! I know the UV's might seem like a drag right now, but power through it, it'll all be worth it to see this mad character in full glory!
ok, powered through the UVs. Most of the mirroring came out pretty cool ... still need to go in and bake out some maps with bled edges so I can remove some unsightly seams. Also need to shift the artifacting chain link UVs to where it belongs. All in all I am pretty happy with the A/O and normal map so far.
@garagarape: color is next up > : ) @Tbone: thanks! @woogity: can't wait to dig in myself :P @BC3D: took your advice on UVs (thanks, almost saved them for tonite!)... found 3 mistakes and clocked in at 9997. close enough, I suppose :P
You did great things with your normal and occlusion map.
Good optimization on your uvs sheet, no place left at all
and you'll surely get nice details thanks to that.
Keeeep it up!
OK, a little texture work and some viewport screengrabs. Still think I can push it a lot further, but I want to give it a decent overall pass before I go in and nitpick. No spec map yet, it's going to add a ton but I am saving ti for last. Maybe I'll make a rough one in the days to come. 11 days left . . . time to start burning the candle at both ends.
@Kozlow: thank you! much appreciated. @Belltann: as it yours -- keep it up! @garagarape: Thanks! I hope it pays off @woogity: gracias > : ) @conte: they have arrived! @Jeff MD: dude, yours is so sick ... thanks for the support! @NyneDown: thanksss!!! @TBone: thanks! I must resist the urge to play around with them so I can get the rest done ><
Yeah! I dig the polycount dental bridge and gingiva.
Your beast and worm are really cool!
No iris makes the worm even more original.
And bright skin is great to show the wrinkles.
Very nice dude!

Agreed, can't wait to see it textured
