Thanks for the comments! Robots bore me. Concept restart-
It was this or sumo ninja.
lovvveee this. so awesome. yes!

This is getting an awesome response dude. You definitely hit on something I think that transcends into one of those universal 'gotta love it' characters.
Great job man, I really can't wait to see this in 3d.
looooving this concept snowfly! great expression and awesome proportions. i really like the great mix of techy steam-punkishness and round, pliable shapes. very very cool.
its such a crazy change in concept but its totally right. like everyone said, seeing this finished is going to be tight. I have a place in my inspiration folder with kitty copters name on it.
I so far have gasped a little at almost all of these but the Pious Popemotron 3000 was the best. Religious robots FTW. I would love to see that one make it to 3d. That reminds me, I had a game idea about robot wizards...
wow, I really like your mech designs, even though I know how hard it is to lock in on one design. although the cat is very different, i looks like it would be really fun to make in 3d.
Whoa, the response to the Commodore's crazy! Thanks guys, glad you like it. He's a ton of fun to work on.
OK, not so pretty update. I did a little sketch mesh to get a better feel for him. Wish I'd checked against the concept more while doing it...He needs to be wider and uglier. I've also got these detail concept for his bits and pieces, should keep me busy for a while.
that's sooo good snowfly, really liked the st michael mech, pulled off the trick of looking like a machine that was both unique and heroic. But the cat is even cooler
yeah this guy has a fat and cheruby look. You should make sure since you catch those proportions, or it won't work quite as well. But I dig it, I think you'll really pull this off well.
Update! I'm chugging along with the detail meshes, but with my sad modeling skills I won't show them yet. I've got a first pass on my base color and spec color done though, plus some detail paintovers to guide my high poly-ing:
I know he's a bit stumpy, but I don't plan on giving him a dynamic pose anyway, so it should work out alright. Would appreciate some crits, so be blunt, thanks!
PS I think my entry would make a good downloadable game
Your main job with such a little guy is make sure to catch all that little subtlety that you got going in the concept. Textures and materials especially. Also keep in mind that tiny little details will make or break this thing, so make them nice and clean!
I'm sure you'll do fine as you're already on your way
haha I love the comic and the color choices.
it would be cool to do a pose with his propellers out flying around in the beauty image, like in the last pannel of the comic strip.
Awesome stuff man. Great little comic strip too This guy looks like he won't give you any problems resurfacing in 10,000 triangles! Looking forward to the final
amazing man love the strip great personality on the demon in that too, i think the new direction is great, and your initial concept is extremely cool/cute. nice stuff cant wait to see him done its gonna be great!
Ugh, the perils of relearning Zbrush in the middle of DW...I've learned a lot the past week though so I'm pretty satisfied with that, even though I'm still trying to come to grips with the brush handling.
Just need to rough in the sculpt for the hands and jacket, then move on to the hard surface bits.
everyone-glad you liked the comic!
kodiak-you're awesome, thanks for the encouragement. how's your entry coming along?

oh god YES!
YEEEESSS!
Yes!
You could make him a lil doom buggy if you get time at the end. Get modeling! Your turning into one of the best dudes on the net man. Finish him!
I grow tired of seeing gnarled demon head after gnarled demon head. This is very refreshing. Just as Squirrely Jones' panda was from last year.
Still, I approve of the kitty-copter.
