@coldkodiak: thanks ^^ Was thinking of him standing with one foot on/in a house, maybe with a road and some trees. Just to enhance his "largness". @Geezus: Glad you like it @Kamui: Thanks. Ill try to make the texture enhance it.
The "base" texture is coming along. Going to make a pass with this material over the whole thing then go in and add more depth/detail and colour variations. Just the diffuse without lights.
hey not sure if your planning this or if someone else mentioned it, but I think it be pretty cool to have the crystal's green glowing through some of the cracks. Just to increase the magic feel of this awesome creature
@katzeimsack: Soon @Abe_hokage: Its just mental ray with 3point lighting and production finetrace setting. Thanks. @foreverendering: hehe thanks. Think i might put some different colours on the steps for some more contrast. @Muzz: Hehe yup. Wanted it to be resilient and twisted tree of the north. @Mtg_kirin: Nope, your the first and its a pretty darn good idea. Ill give it a go.
Looks great Belltann! The material you have on those crystals is awesome . I think if you decide not to do the glowing green cracks moving away from them then maybe play with speckleing smaller crystal fragments into the rock texture that surrounds the large crystal outcrops. And idk if its just because of the direct frontal view but its kinda hard to tell that the gold area on his shoulder is a cave. Having a little more yellow light spill out onto the rocks of his neck might help. Keep it up dude, this guy is going to be a badass when its done.
lookng good man, i gotta say though and it is way to late but the stairs are creating and odd tangent in the model breaking its rythyms, i think it may have worked better if they were sculpted in more organically. making it look more ancient . but i digress noce work

@coldkodiak: Oh yes hehe yea never done trees before but i will give it a try. @nrek: Hehe thanks dude. The crystals where created with the help of some marble. Going to beef up the "shine" from his eyes,mouth and cave. Thanks for the idea. @Ged: Hehe, i would like to create a small farm, with a well, some trees and a small road on his base. I hope this is legal? @r4ptur3: No treeaction yet my friend, here i give you some moss and shrubbery for the time being. ^^ @meshiah: Yea, allot of choises i would have done differently now but the time is nigh. Thanks anyways. @Abe_hokage: Thanks mate. I like the stripes ^^ But! Crystals dont give a Dong, they make only Crack so i changed some to metall.
Here is an update pic. Still allot to do.
I have some questions thou. Can i make a small house/well/road/tree on my presentation base? Am i allow to use mentalray for all of the images, even the presentation one?
"This image must contain one full front pose and one full back pose of your character. Poses must be placed on one large or two small pedestals. Post effects from 3d softwares or 2d programs like Photoshop are NOT allowed in this image. The only adjustments allowed are: Brightness/Contrast, and Hue/Saturation. Background must be a flat textured (grainy, etc) image or a pure or gradient color. You cannot put any objects, stars, things, fire, or people in your background."
"A pedestal is NOT a floor and/or it is NOT a room. It's a block, pillar, coffin, box, crate, stone slab, etc.
No additional weapons or gear that your character can pick up and use can be put on the pedestal.
No additional characters, pets, animals, pieces of characters, dead characters, etc, can be put on your pedestal. Only Bones and skulls are fine. "
wow man hadnt seen this one for a while since i cant view your images at work where i check this the most, but damn it turned out nice! i really dig the scale elements you threw in there. beautiful job on the moss too!
Looks great. Have you considered some additional vegetation, such as small flowers or a different type of moss? It feels just a tad too monotonous for me at the moment.
@woogity: Thanks man glad you liked it still feel pressured that i wont make it. @morte: Yup definitly right there. Still need to start working on the specular for the whole thing, now its just the standard blin spec. @Mtg_kirin: Thanks @Zwebbie: Thanks. Yea some more variation is needed. Time to work on it.
Looking great Belltann! One thing though, at first glance the tree top almost seems like more moss. It might be the color or it might be how dense it is. Maybe try adding a little more red to the color of the leaves.
Looking fantastic, love the green cracks with light pouring out. Love how the moss isnt over done but seems to have enough and all in the right places.
Will agree that the tree gets a little lost with the moss color which is a shame because it gives him such great scale and style.
I think maybe adding some flowers here and there among the moss might be nice for bits of color. Flowers might not be the right choice though.
@nrek: Thanks dude. Yea think your right, sure ill give it a colour pass tonight. @408: hehe thanks. Um dono about any secrets. Just plain textures on a blinn, some greenlight in incandecense and ambientcolour, and then render with finetrace mentalray with finalgather. simple 3 point light setup. etc. @Davidskiwan: glad you liked it. Yup im on it. @Autocon: Thanks. Yup ill be trying the flower bit out again. @conte: Yea i know, im a bit nervous about that. Ill see what i can do. only got 2 "working days" left until monday. going to be a close call.
Very impressive Belltann. I can't wait to see the final screens!
I agree. Pop the tree. I didn't even know there was a tree until someone mentioned there was one.

HEY! THIS IS INSANE! One of my favorites for sure!! just one thing though that would be easy to change for ya... the description of your character... everything but the last sentence is really really good! The last sentence is really weak... and plus you have two n's at the end of return... I would mess around with that last sentence though.. All around though man! just insane job! I love the tree to!
@Firebat: Glad you liked it. @Muzz: Thanks man, yea i can agree on both. I didnt figure out how the lighting worked in marmoset (awsome renderer btw), feelt stressed to post my final stuff. Just wanted to get it out off my system. @Rory_M: Hehe thanks dude. Just glad i finished this year. @r4ptur3: Thanks dude, Same on you . @cgmonkey: The ol golden days hu i completly forgot about that, damn that entry was crapage. ^^ @Zwebbie: Thanks. feel a bit embarraced of my english grammar, i removed the double n's but in my eager to finilize everything i sent it with all the spelling errors. @conte: Thanks mate. ^^ @WarNoodle: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. hehe yea, im not going to write a book in the near future.. -.- @BC3D: Thanks. Its was really fun to try out rockanatomy. @Dreamer: Thanks dude. I just couldnt chose for some reason, so i sent the one with two, wrong choise now when i think of it...ah well. @Kozlow: Thanks.

What're you gonna do for the base? It'd be cool if it were a little village or something,
@Geezus: Glad you like it

nice idea the cristal parts!
Oh well everything else is so freaking badass.
Love this entry keep it up!

Time to put on my grinding gloves. ^^
I think the addition of that tree is really going to sell this completely. Really nice work.
P.S. nice stuff > : )

don't leglet to show his epicness and scale, on the final sheets(some crazy angle, fov etc.)

Agreed on tree cooments, also the stairs look too tidy & free of nature's additions
@dehebo: Yea the stairs is a bit to tidy but i dont have the time to fix it properly.
Hello everyone just want to know wich one of these BS's you like the most. Having a hard time deciding wich one i should use.
A.

This character is done. Can't take it anymore ^^
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their support and helping me go a bit futher. Hat of to you. Cheers!
Its freaking epic.
The inengine shot looks a bit over exposed though .
EDIT: actually i think it was just my monitor settings.
Looking again i would have to say that the bueaty and presentation shots look to similar for my likings. They are exactly the same composition.
Good Luck in the comp.
I think you've got some errors in your text image:
a enigmatic -> an enigmatic
alter -> altar
smithe -> smite
returnn -> return
need -> needed
Love the tree and the stairs!
Cool.
