Looking good, mate. I reckon there'll be a few of these fat armoured guys in the competition after last year, so you'd do well to put some real consideration into making him look unique to stand out from the crowd.
abe: Thanks dude
here is a quick speed sculpt of trying better shapes. this one is allright but not nearly oirignal. going to try some variations tonight.
I have decide that this king of the mountains, sleeps in his halls untill his people needs him and wakes him from his eternal slumber. When the foe is defeated he goes back to sleep, just waiting for the next threat to emerge and he is called for again.
To wake him the eldars need to complete a summoning rite to wake him up. This holyplace is acctually on the kings left shoulder.
It might be that hes turning away from a norm warlord....But hes still just a giant that only prowers are martial. His hammer is his main focus of power. Havent decided what kind of power it got though.
Here is a quick paint over.
Want to represent his size with the fact that he have a balcony on his shoulder with stairs amd birds that follow him around.
the colour dodge thingy just took over there for a while so might tone down the glowingness a bit.
Cool idea so far! Are you going to have structures on his shoulder? If you're going that route, consider having that giant crystal be a tower instead to give it a point of focus. Right now it's not really reading as a dwelling.
Scrumpy: yup, The one now is alittle "WTF Mate!?".
Corv: Thanks dude.
haZe: Thanks mate. I dont think i want it as a develing as such, just make a site for the summoning rite. But obviously the one i have now is a bit halfassed.
Going to work some more tonight, the work over lunch was a complete failur that ended in a crash...
AimBiZ: Hi. yea been working on that, dont want to use much armour thou.
Been thinking it would be cool to have something that pulls him to the ground even more than his weight so adding a massive tombstone that drags him down even futher would be nice. Dont ask me why but think that it connects him to the mountain and ground more.
He weilds a bellhammer. When he swings and hits something the bell goes "dooooooong" and sends an extra punch to the impact. If its weight and size doesnt do the trick the bell will take care of the rest.
really like where you are going with it!
and indeed you''re going very fast..i prefer concepting in zbrush too as it gives a better idea of the volume in every angle...the weight looks nice from front, but from behind i think you should make him rest more on his hips. that will make him seems more in controle despite the weight of the Hammer.
good luck

I really like the crystals and his bulkiness, although I think you could maybe even exaggerate the proportions a bit more?
Also I really liked that he had a large belt in the early concepts since it divided the shapes somewhat. Although that might destroy the sense of scale I guess.
Abe_hokage: Thanks dude. Yup had a look on the overall weight again. See what you think of the new.
DimitrisT: Thanks. Yup, need to try some more variations for the crystals.
bounchfx: Thoought it would be a cool to see it in a movie with people flying as ragdolls ^^
pestibug: thanks mate need to refine em even more. they are going to be tiled i think.
morte: Glad you liked it
pretty awesome! have you considered maybe a tree or broken shack on his back (something the stairs lead to)? Maybe evidence of a camp fire? Pile o' bones? There's a real sweet opportunity to create a focal point up there.
As king of the mountains, wouldn't it be nicer if he was a bit taller, to make him appear more majestic?
Right now he looks rather young to me. Are you planning to make him look more aged later, like cracks and more contrasting shapes in the face or something like that?
Just my 2 cents.
fightpunch: Thanks mate.
pestibug: Haha ta dude. Thinking about the lanterns up the stairs as i write this.
Liam Cullen: Liam Cullen...what the hell are you doing here!?!?! Are you going to join?! Thanks mate
r4ptur3:Thanks dude. Yup definitly going to do put a focal there, but it will be an alter where they wake him from his slumber. a tree might not be a dum idea acctually, like a small and gnarly lithle thing next to the stairs on his back.....hmmm. i need to have a think about it. Thanks for the idea thou.
IronHawk: Just wanted to put a twist on the whole bell and hammer business ^^
corv: I will pray to something unoly that i will get the energy finish this year.
audi100: Yea think hes just going to appear on the Irontombstone and maybe on the bellhammer. For now hes just a placeholder for the alter.
AimBiZ: Good points, but he wont get any longer. Want him to have a low point of gravity. The cracks will come later on, might even give him some old wounds from previuos battles. Also going to have vegetation that hangs from his limbs and head. Pixlegoat was talking about a crown so might try that to.
gavinneil: Aye mate thanks. you joining to?
Loving this mate, really like how chiselled he is. He has great proportions and the sculpt is coming along v nicely. Could maybe use some of the rocky stuff from his head on the arm not holding the hammer, just a suggestion Keep up the good work.

Yeah small clusters of rocks in a few places would be interesting. I like the tree on his back.. that's a nice touch
fightpunch: Thanks. Im quite happy with how the legs rocky feel came out, think i need to put some more on that on the shoulder areas and the arms. Yup, his left arm need working on. I might need to put some rocks there to make the silluet a bit more intressting there thou. Now it looks kinda boring.
NuclearWarrior: Thanks dude. ^^ Hehe still far to go. Need to retopo at some point (looking forward to that, promise ).
Kamui: I can give it a try ^^.
caseyjones: Thanks.
Snefer: Haha! ^^
Muzz: Hes very selfconsious about his "treegrowth". Hes thinking of getting inplants later this year, just cant afford it at the moment.
Well time for sunday hustle, see how far i get today.
Glad you all like it so far, makes it easier to work on.

lucn grind. just some tweaks to crystal silluett and armstairs. Still much to do!
Can't wait to see the final results.
