Guys any feedb on the apc spotlights? HP went off for the weekend yesterday (he had to unfortunately) and I suppose Lee's busy at work (+ its like 7 or so hours difference between us so...) so I'm alone working on it today. NEED DA FEEDBACKZ.
Looking awesome indeed. The last problem for me (hehe) is the skybox. The clouds look very cartoony and not very natural? Did you use photo ref on your alpha planes or is it just hand painted? (the cartoony feeling is due to the wavy effect, I think).
Good god, that is slicker than snot. Please TELL me you guys are going to release this to the public somehow so we can fire it up and run around if we own Crysis?

Keep up the good work !
Photoref used, yeah, and that's something i want to work more on tomorrow. The bright waves were supposed to resemble the bottom side of the clouds being lit. They were something i wanted done 'asap' without spending too much time on, I should have enough 2morrow to do them properly.

We're prooly not going to release the sources used for this particular scene, but what i can tell is that HP was whispering something about playable sp level later on. BUT I DONT KNOW. :poly124:
good luck you guys! your scene is definitely one of the top ones in the comp. cant wait to see the results!
lol, we're trying to finish ours tonight too. we thought the deadline was midnight on saturday night, but apparently its end of sunday GMT 0, which, if im right, will give us till mid afternoon sunday (pacific time GMT -8)
To go with Renauds comment, I actually think the clouds are doing a good thing for the scene, more so for the overall composition, it feels to me like it balances the scene better... weighted really nicely.
It creates just enough interest with the highlights that it somewhat leads the eye into the scene, but also pushes the main focus into view... just enough contrast to pop whats really important.
Anywho... so fricken awesome, inspiration folder indeed!
one thing ive noticed, if its raining the spec on the ground should be more consistent looks like you have shiney concrete then dry dirt. if its rain soaked it should be more like mud and just as shiney as the concrete
Congrats guys! We can have normal schedules now. My models would look boring in these shots if it wasn't for the both of you being extremely knowledgeable in the Crysis editor. (gonna open up the editor now and see how you did all those tricks) I have definitely learned a lot from the both of you
Now i have sexy new wallpaper for my computer at work
thanks guys. I thought we would place higher, but 5th is fine with me . I learned a lot from Buddy & HP, learning the Crysis editor was fun.
This competition gave me a goal when I was looking for work, I was very depressed, getting constant rejections in my job search. HP and buddy re-vitalized my ability to work at home again. Maybe we'll release a playable map in the future

Looks great guys!
Especially when its foggy, as it definitely is in the scene
You´re not far off. Maybe brighten a little and if you can make it a little "softer" / more blurry.
Last update for today folks, tommorow is the big day, gotta finish this over night and submit!

For those who haven't seen yet, all the 5 winners of SFAM have been featured in a CGS article:
CGSociety - Scene From a Movie Competition
We took a few screenshots especially for this article, that didn't make it to the real thing, so I'm gonna grab the oportunity and post them in here!
Enjoy!
