So far everything for this environment is looking great! You've done a fine job of collecting and interpreting the source material.
looks badass dude! gonna keep an eye on this post for sure.
You guys got some great looking props too.
Already looks pretty awesome, hope you can finish in time.
Richard Kain, Yes, he used the "South Lock" screenshot just to show of the door.
North and South lock buildings are pretty much different buildings, but the doors are the same!
For those interested, here's some of the refs we got:

Looking very tasty so far guys....
Here's my first attempt:
(I know it looks weird having only a single textured prop in there, but try and ignore it and just appreciate the "style" and "mood" of the shots.)
i was just watching Aliens couple of days ago
love the props
the only thing throwing me off is the perfect ground
are you going to add some variation in the terrain? the puddles of water?
Yeah we both were working on a piece of aliens franchise not too long ago
APC is the coolest vehicle ever, I still remember the music as it goes charging through the complex.
top work, can't wait to see the finished thing!
We're on an express elevator to hell...going down!
Yeah man, CryEngine2 is also very well know for it's pretty cool decals system, it has pretty much everything you want it to have. (difuse, spec, normal, and more important Parallax mapping)
Of course the ground still needs a lot of work, and as of yet I'm still using a temporary Crysis ground texture. Everything on this scene needs to be custom made so we'll have to make a ground texture to. And some variation to the ground geometry, last but not least, a few puddles of water as well!
I've been looking for apartments this weekend, getting back into it tonight when we return to Plano. We only have 2 weeks remaining
eh eh, I hope so too! :poly121:
Those guys are the original creators of AvP so, I'm sure they will do a great job!

By far the best character in the movie. Nice job. Aliens is awesome.
here's the maps I used for the terrain. there's a lot of in-editor material tweaking work involved afterward tho!
im having a tough time figuring out how to do foot imprints on sand. haha. your guys ground doesnt even look like its tiling. good job
Here's the APC ingame

It's not, eh eh...
Importing assets it's really easy, if you use 3Dsmax. (The exporter for other apps like XSI is a bit buggy, but still works.)
The Material Editor is a bit hard to master at first, but after you understand how it works, it's really powerful, i can recreate exactly the kind of surfaces I want in a few seconds.

About those 2 screenshots I've posted yesterday, the Wet/Rain shader looks so awesome in motion, but on screenshots it's nothing but noise, so I'm considering removing it for the final submitions screenshots.
Yep.
I love this!,Keep up the work
They didn't make anything shockingly good after that title, and personally, as a game, AvP2 is the better one.
AvP had the atmosphere, AvP2 had the story and polished edges...
To me, A3 was the gem, but I mainly like it's pacing, characters, sets and alien-design.
The scene is looking good by the way.
The pacing is an interesting point. I can see why some fans would prefer the pacing in Alien 3. It gets into things a lot faster than its predecessor. The entire first half of Aliens is used for character development and building of tension. The actual payoff doesn't come until much later in the film. However, the quality of the acting and character development more than makes up for the slow initial pace.
I also agree that Alien 3 is better than some critics seem to think. Despite some of its shortcomings, it definitely has its moments, and its own unique flavor. In fact, its level of disparity from the previous films in the series is one of its best points. If you have the two-disc collectors edition of Alien 3, I strongly recommend checking out the behind-the-scenes extras and commentaries. The initial pitch for the film's plot is very different from what eventually came to be.
Alien Resurrection never happened. Repeat this mantra to yourself while rocking back and forth and crying softly. It never happened.
You guys are doing some stunning work on this scene. I cannot wait to see more updates. Very impressive.
Cool work HP as usual.
