Vahl: I was trying to speed through that thing. Honestly it should have been separate groups in the high rest so i could get a mask out of topogun, but I was lazy and didnt wanna go back. Forward progress, you know!
It's just way too much stuff crammed in. That and every version has hardware locked me on my work machine. I'm not ainto the auto retopo shit and i think that topoguns tools are as fast or faster in most cases.=)
stoofoo - 3d coat is wicked buggy and will randomly crash if there are too many verts on screen for me.May just try Topogun again.Great vid man.Learning a ton from em.
Finally distilled all the info on the various modding boards and figured out how to get shit into skyrim. SO HERE IT IS. video walkthrough of getting a model into skyrim.
hey man, loved the vid of mudbox texturing, thought i'd give it a go.
any idea why mudbox would flip a normalmap vertically when i try to load one? it's the only map it does this with, and if i try to flip the map in photoshop before i load it into mudbox, it's still the wrong way up.
it's so bizarre. i know you might not be able to help, but doesn't hurt to ask, right?
edit: update! seems it has this problem with .tga files, .tif works fine
I made a video walkthrough of the process of getting a custom model to show up in game without replacing it. Custom item ids, recipes and tempering recipes. Could split it up into a few chunks but this covers it all!
I had a question about mudbox painting. I recently attempted to paint a model exactly the way you showed in your mudbox painting tutorial. However, the normal map was extremely screwed up looking and it wasn't really reliable to paint that way.
My question is, does mudbox hate either:
a. Normals baked in xnormal, or:
b. Overlapping UVS
Those are the only two things I could think of that might have been screwing it up.
I don't have any screenshots unfortunately, all I can say is that it looked extremely bad, horrible seams, and just flat out wrong.
You can set to max or maya generic display settings on the material panel. The overlapping uvs are a bit squirrely, too. I'd have to see it to give you a what's what, but it sounds like you just needed to set compatibility mode on the shader.
did another video. This time its on building the hard surface model. Gonna try and get through all parts of getting it into the game by the end of the month.
Rendered the sucker down and made me a vidya. Will continue to post in here as long as people don't complain that I'm just bumping a post or whatever. Conversely, you could just subscribe to my channe.
