mmm Pokemon, but I could easily see that go terribly wrong.
Battletech would be pretty neat.
Advance Wars!!
Mega Man / Castlevania / Metroid - keep it all 2d. Have a lobby where you get together with groups and go out and do procedurally generated missions/levels for loot to make gear to fight harder missions to get better loot to make better gear.
Just anything that plays like Monster Hunter, really.
One based off George R.R. Martin's(and friends) Wildcards universe. Or one based off of Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series. Both have really unique approaches to super-powers and/or magic.
But I'd be happy to work on the Wiggles/Dora monstrosity. Em gots ta get paid, bitches.

Monster Hunter FTW!. Wish Capcom bring Monster Hunter Frontier to the occident someday
I always thought Transformers would be a good one. You could have Earth and Cybertron, and the other planets they visited like the planet of Junk and Char. Imagine being able to custom build your own bot from different vehicles, and you already had factions to choose from among the Autobots and Decepticons like the Wreckers, Aerialbots, Predacons, etc, etc. Add in Beast Wars and the like and you're looking at a huge game.
I would like to see a fighting style MMO like killer instinct, street fighter, or mortal combat. You choose a faction and go do what that characters wants with his life if you will and the fighting system is like well a fighting game. A hyrule mmo from Legend of Zelda, or even a super mario world mmo. Is there an Aliens VS Predator MMO, that would be cool too.
yep i would love to see shadowrun as an mmo. Maybe not as traditional, I would have many different jobs going from a MR.Johnson to running lets say an Ares company. Im sure it would be really difficult but entertaining for years and years. Just knowing that the world is really alive and whether or not your there does effect the outcome.
What about an MMO set in the Warcraft universe? Huh? Huh?! Oh wait...
If I had to play an MMO (a genre which I now detest with a passion) it would have to be set in the world of Monty Python. It's the real world but everything is slightly insane. That or American Psycho.
There's lots of things that would make awesome persistant online games. Not neccessarily massive, but open-world online... Things like.. Jet Set Radio. Imagine a game like Skate, an open city and seamlessly integrated multiplayer, but it's not Skate, it's Jet Set Radio! That'd blow my mind.
some type of Space Ship mmo were u can totallllly customize your ship and crew, Additional armor types and weapons that totally changes the aspects of the ship.
The way I think about MMOs is that they are all pretty much the same game under the hood with a different coat of paint. Sure you can slap a different universe on top but you'll still have the same bunch of people running around chatting, playing dress-up and generally breaking the believability of that world.
The things we love about our favourite fictional worlds are the characters and the writing and I believe that it is impossible to capture the essence of these in an MMO where most of the characters are basically gamers acting out fantasy roles.
Sorry for derailing the thread a bit but I was just wondering what everyone else's thoughts on this matter were. Am I missing the point here? Anybody care to give me some insight into what it is that people actually want out of an MMO?

I would try and trade my tennis bat for a bigger one and then win.
I wholly support this idea and wish for this to someday come true!
+1
Anything not set in a medieval-fantasy setting would also result in some nut-grabbage.
Yeah...I would enjoy that. Loved the Firefly series.
also xcom.
The A-team.

Scientology (But it already works like an MMO. You keep paying up, and after 300,000$, you're all leveled up).
WH40K MMOFPS/RPG hybrid done with love and dedication would rock my world. :poly136:
Starcraft MMORPG is fine too.
Halo
Command and Conquer
Star Craft
