See there you go, Dejawolf's paintover works great and doesn't even take away any of the precious slanty magazine bits. All it took was a little bit of extra space and the concept went from cool looking but ridiculous to cool looking and mechanically viable. This is why it comes off as very lazy to me to not even bother thinking about that in the first place.
I'd be flattered if something I made got picked apart with this much attention and constructive criticism + paintover.
And for the record I also tend to watch How Its Made now and then...
I took some more shots and i'll be posting another update here sometime soon as i go through them all. For now heres a little shot showing off how awesome the lighting is in our model viewer.

Yes, I approve. These guns are so damn awesome. :P Is this what it'll look like ingame? That is just crazy-good. Both the texturework and the materials/lighting is totally kickass. Can't wait to (hopefully) get my hands on the modelviewer
Love the design of the face-melting gun, looks realistic, yet futuristic
For the most part that is what they look like in game, yeah. The biggest difference is texture compression, but the lighting and material properties are the same quality in game.
Looks like that glass could use a little Parallax mapping on it. Seem solid for a scope. (have no idea if the engine your using could do it, just a thought).
hey guys ! heres some chars i did for the game, hope you like ! Just wanted to say that working alongside Joe, Perna , Jack, Aubrey , Jeff, Andres ( basically awesome morans ) was the best that could have happened to me i love your awesome, perfectly crafted weapons EQ !! ( not gay at all )
neat what size maps were the characters and were any shader work done to them? Like sub surface or anything in that manner? (seems like this engine can do alot reason im asking )
Some awesome character work, Johny.
I also can't wait to get my hands on this model viewer! It really does look like it compliments the awesome work you 8monkey dudes are throwing into it.
EQ was bugging, so I'm posting some of the stuff I did for DoD. Had a lot of fun doing this stuff, learned a lot, and then EQ was like "lawl, can't see that in FPV" and cut out half the detail.:poly124:
I kid, love you man, in a totally non-heterosexual way.
Horse textures, model by EQ:
Some props I did:
Medbot concepts, but they weren't used:
Over the arm cannon thing. Thanks to Gauss for giving me some direction on this when I was struggling with it. Also the belt is messed up.
Shoulder cannon thing:
SMG thumbs, cause EQ wanted me to post this stuff even though it sucks:

FMG barrel variants:

As for the whole discussion about the SMG being a big load of bullshit: I do agree that extending the diagonal section downwards to make it look like the bullet could travel through would be a good idea. As for the edit in the same pic where the slide/ejection port thing is placed horizontal rather than at an angle I have to say that's a poor design choice. Yes, it is technically correct, but it disrupts the flow of that diagonal that chops the gun into two, and that diagonal is what makes the design unique. EQ was busting my ass nonstop about making it look cool in FPV, so that's what I aimed to do and I think I suceeded. Makes no mechanical sense, especially the hammer being a big chunk of steel, but hey it's a game with a radiation gun so fuck it.

congratulations have a cookie
Nice work EQ.
Awesome stuff EQ.
though I'm a bit disappointed that there aren't any dicks or boobies in this thread (yet)
Oh there's plenty of dicks already
Cool guns, awesome art, as long as they kill shit in the game, it's fine by me!
Love the design of the face-melting gun, looks realistic, yet futuristic
Looking forward to the model viewer.
Killer stuff mate!
Im so excited about the possibility of the game engine being release. I just wondering is it a fps engine like most game engines or different.
Love the design on this!
lol!
Thanks man, yeah there are two firing modes, a wide spray, and a focused spray. The nozzle rotates around for the two modes.
thx bye
^This is what confused me :[
now per! googgoogogogo
hmmmm those sheets would combust up a treat with the flamegun......
i bet those chars in unreal3 wouldnt look half as good!
marius und fritz will drink to that.

This was the initial reason why I posted that haha.
Is their an explanation of the game somewhere?

- and it's getting very exhausting.
outrageously kickass work here and I'm extremely excited at the thought of getting our hands on the model viewer!
