Not posted for a while...here's my latest modelling venture.
It's kind of lonely at the moment, but I might add to it in the future - lampost, car, street and a handle for the door which I only just realised I'd forgot! :poly124:
It started as a Pepakura paper print of a lowpoly model, then sealed with resin and spraypaint (green stuff) to make it liquid proof and resistant.
Then I filled the parts with chuks of styrofoam to fill the gaps, and poured resin in it hoping to make a sponge like structure. Funnily the two of them reacted and created expanded resin, lighter than the usual stuff but just as hard :P Then I inserted Lego bionicle joints sealed in with epoxy putty for articulation.
mop - thanks for your comments, have worked on the face to try and get it right
redmond_david - thanks for posting the flats and wires
pior even hand crafted work from you oozes pure style, very cool idea
Did this little project for something to do. Might do more work on it.. idk. Kind of want to move onto something more interesting/complex. Was fun to do it though.
I would post an image of my work, but it appears I am unable to do so.

Mhm, indeed. I wasn't planning on staying too true to the original, was more just started as a reason to play around with Laurens' shader. I'm no good at organic modeling, so if I do finish, I'll only be doing the legs and not the zombie soldier.
portergraphic: if you're referring to attachments, we don't use them here. you have to upload images to your own (or some other free) hosting service, and link to them either as URLs or inline using [ IMG ] tags.
@arrangemonk
that gold shader is working pretty nice man
my only thing is, the AO you got in there (is it baked?)
it sort of detracts from the material, because there'd probably lighter areas right near cavities where light is bouncing off the opposing surface. That, to me, is the only thing letting the material down.
@trevor87 turned out pretty nice. i would make the wheels a bit rounder and maybe a few more color variations of metal. Also would be cool to see some stickers or its been used a lot feel to it. all around though turned out nice, the normals from the High transferred really well. nice work.
wow awesome manniquin Pior! if patented that and sold copies you could make a fortune. i know i would buy one in a heartbeat,
so much better than the reference manniquins they usually sell
trevor87 - you should push your mats quite a bit more. Everything has an even sheen right now - tires, metal, umbrella, all read the same. Tighten up the spec on the metal, add some grime in the corners to the spec, etc.
- more tris for the wheels
- needs a food menu on the front w/ prices
- some stains on the top surface from food service
- tilt the umbrella a bit - it looks far too stiff and perfect
- the doors and drawers - no need for geo on those. They aren't sticking out that much, could all be in the normal w/ some subtle ao to reinforce.
- consider some larger dents / scratches to the surface of the metal (quick mudbox / zbrush pass). Would give it some character.
Nah, I am just further along. I like the curves you are putting into the one you are making. A little more rocket man than I am going, but I like that.

@portergraphic it's coming along perfect thus far, but unless you're planing to deviate from the concept a bit i reckon you should make the limbs skinnier, especially the arms
You are correct. I used a make human body and placed him in that pose so I could build the proper proportions. I am making my own arms and legs, which will be skinny to match better with the concept. I am going to be doing quite a bit on the back side of the model by making a gebirgsj

Monk, nice job! You should make a shinier gold, and mask off some areas (exposed areas, belly, top of head, etc.) to swap between the two.
VERY NICE!! How big is it, need more shots!
What is that stuff on his head?
All art related things are always good to post, i mean, thats what i do anyway
Nice sculpting man, keep updateing!
I remember someone asking for flats, so heres a copy/paste from game-artist.net
I can't upload all the flats, it would take me ages, but heres a select few either way:

the buddha is finished and im exhausted
Working on a poseable mannequin for character reference. She's legless so far tho...

Will prime it soon!

//edit : Forgot to post a little bust I made yesterday afternoon.
I am working on that very same piece. The Keith Thompson concept of the Leicheoberschultze is amazing.
I will be interested in seeing your take on it as well.
For those of you who haven't seen his work, here's the concept we are working from.

Still have tons to do on this. As I said before, this is based on a Keith Thompson concept.
thanks

Done with the high-poly,
don't think I will do the low-poly.
Low poly
high poly
final low poly w/ maps

anatomy study gone overboard, so much to fix

Yeah, see. Yours is much better.
Pior that is so damn sexy!
Keep us updated, and i might try and do something like this aswell, seems really interresting and useful!
(your hand looks sexy aswell!)

Do you want to create a normal map from that one?
The edges are pretty tight
Cudas are so awesome
More progress. I'm not really trying to stay close to the concept so much as I am just dicking around...but meh.
Oh, and progress on this:
mostly just redid the normal, doing it correctly this time. Still not finished by any means though.
